The stories that the Chinese opera performed were taken from parts of Chinese history as the biography of Empress Dowager Tz’u-his and the biography of Qin-Shi-Huang, biography of Ch’ieng-lung and so forth.

     The performances would perform 7-10 nights for one story. There were some scenes that were about slaves, cruelty, abuse, and opium that were historical.

In the Present Day

     The stories performed are related to
traditional and historical Chinese stories.
They are interesting and not complicated
as in the past. For example; the famous
the Chinese series as Pow-bon-Jin (The
Justice Pow or War of the Yang even,
though the Chinese series was adapted
from the stories of Chinese opera.

     The performance lasts 2-3 hours for a story. And, there were no scenes about slaves, cruelty, abuse, and opium as the past.

     The important parts of the history must be given to the audience, or, audience would not watch them.

      Other aspects of change in the Chinese opera are the length of time performance, which is only 2-3 hours for each performance. And nowadays, the films and video of Chinese opera are avaaible in the market
