In the Past

     The purpose of music was beating time and being an accessory to when the performers sing or alternate between singing and resting. There were sixteen kinds of Chinese opera musical instruments. They were divided to two types by their purpose: administrative musical instruments and military musical instruments.

     The administrative musical instruments were the Peking fiddle, the two strings fiddle, the circle guitar, the circle guitar, the three strings Banjo, the bamboo flute, the oboes organ and the Chinese horn.

     The military musical instruments were the wooden clappers, the leather drum, the short drum, the large drum, the large gong, the small gong, the set of gongs and cymbals.

In the Present Day

     The rhythms of Chinese opera's music were not transform, but the number of musical instruments was decreased. There were typically seven musicians who played the fiddle, the Khim (the stringed instrument, played with mallets), three kinds of drums, and two kinds of cymbals.

     The fiddle used is the treble stringed instrument (saw-duang), which is aThai musical instrument. The musical said that his smaller Chinese opera band did not mean less music.The flute, the pear guitar, the three strings Banjo and so forth, have sounds similar to the remaining kinds of instruments the fiddle, the Khim, the cymbals and so forth. Moreover, the unused musical instruments musicians are now very rare and it is hard to find players of those kind musical instruments.
