The best time to visit Panagyurishte is the spring season (from April to June), when besides that the nature is awaken and everywhere
is green and the trees are blooming, it is the peak of the festival season, and it is worth to visit these celebrations. The events starts in the week before Easter, and
for 3-4 days the center of the
town transforms
into one big fair, as the climax comes in Friday "Good
Friday", when
at the city center there are hundreds of retailers and small restaurants,
which offer traditionally made “kebarche” (grilled meat balls), fried
potatoes and bear. Furthermore, there are ranges and the favorite for all
children attractions – wheels, trains, carts etc
The month of May begins especially festive for all townsfolk of Panagyurishte – in honor of the April Uprising of 1876, each year in the evening of May 1, there is a
festive gathering at the center and people, many statesman, politicians and
tourists are coming to watch the specially dedicated concert and fireworks. On
the next day the celebration continues at the place of “Oborishte”
monument and there you may listen traditional songs, watch dancers and have a
lot of entertainments.
