P.A.L.S. MEETING The first PALS meeting
of the year of 2000 was at Joan's newly redecorated, new homestead.
We all enjoyed the tour and homey atmosphere, not to mention the tasty
brews (even if they were from FIB country). Many laughs, and 'kid'
stories were shared by all. That is what makes PALS so great and
such a draw. The beers went down well but we seem to have a difficult
time staying on task when it comes to rating. We at least have to
keep that in the forefront when we drink.1-15-2000 Denise graced us all with wonderful homemade gifts (with homemade wrapping). We also were gifted with individual 'business cards' that lists our newly established website (courtesy of Denise)! These are awesome! Everyone needs to check out the website! Denise is doing a fab job...Thanks, Denise! Pass the word around to encourage others to check it out. Next order of business was planning the date of the road field trip. Again we experience a little difficulty staying on task..geez maybe we need some drugs! Oh yeah, we're already on them at 'beer' club. Anyways, we did eventually come up with a date of the weekend of February 18th. All seemed able to make that date. I have done some surfing and searching the net, and calling around. Our first pick, New Glarus, doesn't do weekend tours until the Spring/Summer. Therefore, we will have to check that out some other time. There were no microbrews, or even brewpubs, in the Manitowac, Two Rivers, or Sheboygan areas..sorry, Joan. I focused the search on some microbreweries in south central WI. Unfortunately, Huber (in Monroe) does not give brewery tours (STRANGE). Capital brewery (many beers brewed there, some seasonal) does tours but has a beer garden open in warm weather, so again, we're best to wait on that one. That leaves GRAYS brewery in Janesville. They also have a nice selection and received good ratings on www.pubcrawler.com. Lisa also got a line on a good brewpub in nearby Beloit, so we may be able to go there for supper. The beer sold there is McClintock's (sound familiar to you Septembeerfest attendees??). We will stay in a hotel in Janesville (Best Western or such) with pool and sauna facilities, so be prepared if that suits you (ha-ha). Haven't established a leave time - 10 or 11 am? The tour starts at 1:30 and we probably won't take the speedway there. Not sure, but I may be able to drive (we can all fit in). We'll be in touch - looking forward to this getaway and being with the PALS! Respectfully submitted, Mariana |
