PALS
MINUTES
4-25-00 April's meeting included a guest member, Jessica Bundalo. While a novice beer taster with a somewhat virgin palate, she did a fine job of rating...and kept up reasonably well. We're sure she will grow to appreciate a good bock, ale or stout, and, given some time, the true wonder of the brew. She was fortunate to be in the presence of experience and wisdom (not only in the beer-tasting category). We taught her to look for color, clarity, and carat...oops, I mean, rising bubbles. She also was instructed to observe for the head (OH BOY), and the lace. Unfortunately, we didn't shut up long enough for her to teach us a little something. Oh well, we're older and have more insurance. The beers were of a wide variety...including a lemonade-type beer that had tequila for an ingredient. It is good that we try many varieties. We also sampled a macrobrew! And it was pretty good! The rest of the evening, as my notes state, "I don't remember". I'm not sure what that means, but I think y'all were ripping me for never ripping myself. Hey, I'm older, I'm privileged. Here's a new feature of the minutes: "Terms of Enbeerment" from The Complete Idiots Guide to Beer. MOUTHFEEL - the way the beer feels in your mouth; describes the thickness of the beer's body, i.e., light bodied, medium bodied, or full bodied. Usually the darker the beer, the fuller the body. Other terms might be creamy, chewy, humongous, gargantuan, and poo poo. Next meeting - May 20, 2000 7:30pm HOST - HEIDI Be prepared to look at the months of summer for meetings/field trips. June will be Lisa and, hopefully, on the boat. Sunday, June 11th, was discussed previously as a definite possibility. I do believe Joan can make that one...let us know Joan! See you soon!
