Several years later, a colleague played A Thousand Miles in his laptop's media player. I was struck at how playfully happy the piano music is---it's like inviting you to go frolicking around the neighborhood like a child, for lack of a better analogy. I then find myself listening to the song (regardless of the lyrics) whenever I feel down. Not to be cheesy, but the happy tune of the song lifts my spirits up.
Recently, I listened to other Vanessa Carlton's songs. Though they are not bad, A Thousand Miles still remains my favorite.
