| My fascination for angels may be attributed to the fact that they have these feathery wings enabling convenient flight possible, although how can they possibly deal with the high altitudes, I wonder (think polycythemia vera). The fascination is multiplied when I watched the movie "Date with an Angel", where Emmanuelle Beart plays the angel in question.
In terms of fiction paperback, I don't see much romance titles involving angels. Or perhaps I wasn't looking hard enough. One title did pop out of the blue when I recently browsed in a bookstore. Imagine my surprise when the title "Demon Angel" is literally that: a story between a demon and an angel. Which reminds me, I really don't like it when I come across nice sounding titles about angels, only to find in the summary that the word angel is used metaphorically. Shee. |

| Meljean Brook's writing style has taken me aback, however. I just chalk it up to not reading much paperback lately. But reading is a skill in itself, and the book dictates how you do the skill. Brook writes with the assumption that the reader already knows what she's talking about. With the angel and demon realm, I am admittedly a novice, as half the time a chapter left me confused. Without the Internet to look things up, I would have given up on several chapters. Good thing I didn't, because I just discovered what a gem of an author she is---I even bought another one of her books, Demon Knight. I am still on the look out for Demon Moon and Demon Unbound, which, in my side of the world, are difficult to get my hands on. | |||||||||||||||||
