Here I am driving the first peg that holds the girt to the post. It's tradition that the homeowner drive the first peg. Maybe it's a good luck thing.
Here the second bent is being assembled on top of the first. Four bents were assembled today and the remaining ones will be assembled tomorrow. Wednesday the crane will arrive and they will start setting up the bents.
Here you can see some of the intricate joinery. They found that a tenon was a quarter inch too long which would not allow the beams to join correctly. A quarter inch was cut off and the beams now join correctly
Here you see Jaime cutting a mortise in a beam. He is using a chain mortiser which is like a little chain saw. Once the mortise is cut he finishes it with a chisel and mallet.
