The name "Hosanger"
originates most likely from
"Mjoesvaagen". If creative
fantasy is applied it is possible
that "Mjoesvaagen" may
resemble a "hose". "Agr"
means fjord, so by combining
the two words we get
"Hoseagr" (a fjord looking like
a "hose". Sorry, don't know
the english word, but i think it
means "like a hand in gloves")
which has developed
further into "Hosanger". As for the majority of locations on Osteroey, farming is the most important way to make a living. However, today there are very
few farmers that do not
substitute their income in
some way. (The most
famous in "Hosanger" today
is maybe the church, you
can see it here: Churches).
