In some other millennia, the southern shores of Nova Scotia likely kissed the lip of Morocco or nuzzled below the chin of Spain. The force of their embrace was evidenced by a great mountain range which slid down the long fault of their tectonic bodies...

Onward travellers, now comes night.
We are tired though - refresh us!
Can beauty lighten loads?
Heavy our hearts, weary our calls.
Burning gold, the evening fire glowing.
See there sunshine sinking - slowly sinking sunshine. There see
glowing fire. Evening, the gold burning,
calls our weary hearts. Our heavy loads lighten.
Beauty can us refresh, though tired are we.
Night comes now - travellers, onward!

There I stand, a huge crossroads,
Someone comes, takes me by the hand -
He shows me directions I could take.

I choose one, close to the path he himself is walking.
Though not directly beside him, I walk nearby...
Learn much from walking just behind.

The path we take is a long one.
Many people have tried, and turned back.
I make a vow not to be one of them.

Along the way I notice his steps falter...
The candle he carries is not burning as brightly -
He cannot see the way forward.

I stop, and look. I move to help him - but then...
I cannot - must not - help him. He must do this by himself.
It is his decision, not my own. I cannot make it for him.

I may have caused it
This whole thing may be my fault
There is one thing I have noticed...

Ever since I joined him,
He hasn't stopped to smell the flowers,
Or feel the Earth beneath him.

I stop and wait nearby.
I notice a flicker or two in my own...
Looking around, I think to myself...

Should I be going forward?
Should I be going back?
