The Hemithanes History:
 

Clan Hemithanes origins are as mysterious as its name, which means half-dead in greek.  Many ancient writers, philosophers, and artists can be traced to this Clan.  Among its more famous members was Emperor Justine's wife, Theodora.  A courtesan as well as an accomplished sorceress, Theodora sired the Clan's current leader Delilah.

Made up of the more sociopathic souls within the Kindred world, these are the poets, the dreamers, the lovers, and the socialites.  They truly see vampires as the ultimate peak of evolution, and while they wax poetic about the beauty of their victims, they are also the most viscious killers. This Clan depends on the old money set within New York, as they're hopeless snobs.  Notoriously centered in materialism, names such as Rockefeller, Kennedy and Vanderbilt are found within both their ranks and their supporters.  Likewise, they are the most involved in local government and have both Senators on their payroll.  These vampires rarely live longer then a few thousand years before going mad from the combination of passions that boil in their veins.

Delilah rules the Clan with an iron fist - all new members are brought before the Clan for a vote.  If the majority do not favor siring the childe in question, both the sire and the childe are destroyed.

Besides politics and art, the Hemithanes income is derived from the number of clubs it owns in Manhattan. The most famous of their clubs is the Orb.  Located beneath the Empire State building, the Orb caters to the upper echelon of both Kindred and Kine society - thus allowing it to be a hunting ground for the Hemithane.  November is the undisputed leader of the club set within the Hemithanes.  She is Delilah's childe, and is unaware of the deep-seated angst she carries in her soul due to Delilah's embrace.

Another well known Hemithanes Club is the Whip.  Set just south of Houston Street, the Whip is a perfect merge of Manhattan and Soho.  The Whip caters to the more adventurous of NYC, including the Clan's gay and bisexual members.  At the Whip, every night is a party, and Delilah works hard to provide a subject for every fantasy.  There are rooms specifically designed for BDSM, as well as other sexual fantasy escapades. The Whip serves as a sexual Elysium for all members of both Kindred and Kine society.
