It was a stormy night in 1156 when Duncan Connery became Duncan Connery Hemithanes. He was answering his nomadic tendency and walking along his Highland Home when he met with a nameless Hemithanes. The Vampire was attracted to Duncan's beauty and charismatic charm. Late in his life, Duncan accepted the offer of immortality, believing that if he was able to life forever, he'd be able to remain something of a legend; a legend who actually lived to hear bards sing of his tales. Thus, Duncan Connery was Embraced. Lightning surrounded the two beings as Duncan became a member of the Hemithanes Clan.

Because a bolt of lightning struck Duncan while he was being Embraced, he absorbed the energy of the naturistic wonder. As a result, Duncan Connery is able to fight off enemies with a flash of lightning.

Answering to his nomadic tendencies once again in 2001, Duncan traveled to New York in search of others like himself. He hadn't heard from his Sire since the night he was Embraced, and although he didn't Need any others like himself, he Wanted to know that he wasn't alone. The brogue located a member of his Clan almost instantaneously. He met up with Mopar Hemithanes upon setting foot upon the sand of Ellis Island. Mopar led Duncan to Delilah, who was able to tell Duncan about what he was, who he was, and what he was destined to become.
