Congress accused of assault
The Mizoram People�s Conference Youth Wing, in its press release, alleged that some Congress activist tore off the MPC party flags and physically assaulted the flag holder L.R.Chhunga, nicknamed �MPC Jet Fighter�. The incident allegedly took place on October 14, the day Congress held a rally. The MPC party youth vowed that they would take action against these Congress activists and warned never to repeat the same in future.
Durtlang doctor on AIDS
Dr. Sanghluna based at the Presbyterian Hospital, Durtlang is to represent India at the 10th International Course on Aids Prevention and Care in Asia to be held during October 22-November 29, 2003 in Tokyo, Japan. He left for the event on Thursday.
BJP for 20 seats
BJP North East in-charge V.Satish was quoted as saying that the party would run for 20 MLA seats in the coming State Assembly polls. A list of the party�s candidates has been drafted and sent to N.Delhi for approval, another report said. Some Central BJP Cabinet Ministers and other N.E. officials will come on Nov. 7 to observe political atmosphere here, BJP sources said.
Drama Festivals concludes
The two-day Drama Festival Co-organised by the North East Zone Culture Centre and the Art & Culture Department at Vanapa Hall here was concluded yesterday. Troupes from Allahabad, Nagaland, Manipur and host state participated in the festival which was sponsored by the National Cultural Exchange Programme.
Mizo Taekwondo team bags 8 medals
Taekwondo team have bagged 8 medals in the recently concluded National Junior and Sub-junior Taekwondo Championship held in Lucknow. The Mizo team won 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 4 bronze medals.
