Hnahthial to boycott VC election

The Hnahthial village Joint Action Committee has decided not to participate in the Village Council elections that will take place on October 30 as their demand for a district status has not been met. They have also requested neighbouring villages to boycott the VC elections. If after this boycott their demands are still not met, their will take further actions through hunger strikes and highway blockades.

RD minister in Lunglei

Rural Development minister Dr R Lalthangliana, who left the city for Lunglei Saturday last, will inspect the various development works being carried out in this southern district town and the neighbouring villages.

Students' lunch allotment out

The Food & Civil Supplies department has notified that the August allotments for students' lunch has been made. Schools are requested to contact the Aizawl West DCSO's office for the allotment order during the month of October. The Mizoram government gives out this lunch in uncooked rice which is distributed to the students.

MPCC says law & order situation deteriorating

The Mizoram pradesh Congress Committee Extended Meeting have accused the MNF ministry of laxity in upholding the law and order situation in the state. The MPCC said because of the government's inaction, voluntary groups in different localities of the city have had to stand night duties for many nights causing hardships to families and the NGOs. It also regretted that the chief minister had blamed Power & Electricity department personnel for the high power bills that came about as a result of the Cabinet's decision to hike power tariff.

Our editor, David M Thangliana have gone to Vellore today for a week or two to stay with relatives undergoing medical treatment at CMC.
