Legolas journeyed to Rivendell in 3019 for the Council of Elrond and ended up joining the Fellowship of the Ring. Legolas and Gimli became very close friends even though dwarves and elves do not like each other since the elves think the dwarves cheated them. After the Fellowship broke up he travelled with Aragorn and Gimli to reque Merry and Pippin, and fought in the battle of Helm's Deep and the final battle against Sauron. After the War of the Ring he journeyed with Gimli to visit the Glittering Caves and Fangorn Forest. After the death of Aragorn they both sailed over the sea as the last of the Fellowship.
