Elrond was born in Arvenien and he stayed there until he was captured by the sons of Feanor in an attempt to recover the Silmaril. At the end of the first age he had to chose his race and he chose to be elven, whereas his brother Elros chose to become mortal (he is Aragorn's ancestor). Elrond founded Rivendell and married Celebrian, Celeborn and Galadriel's daughter. They had three children, Elledan, Elrohir and Arwen. Elrond wore the Elven Ring Vilya, and after the War of the Ring sailed over the sea with Galadriel, Gandalf, Frodo and Bilbo.
