Born in 2935 Denthor II was the last ruling steward of Gondor. In 2976 he married Findulias and had two children Boromir and Faramir. Upon hearing of Boromir's death Denethor fell into a deep depression even though Pippin tried hard to cheer him up. After hearing of Faramir's illness after his battle with a Nazgul, he ordered that he and Faramir be burned in the pyre but Faramir was saved by Pippin, Gandalf and Beregond.
