Discipline: Our classroom is a small community where teamwork and good relationships are necessary to allow all students to learn in a positive environment. Since this is a new school experience for most of our kindergarten students, we will be spending a lot of time learning class procedures and expectations and practicing them. Each student is expected to behave in a way that does not interfere with learning or teaching. Our classroom expectations are... 1. Be Safe 2. Be Kind (Be respectful) 3. Be a good listener 4. Take care of things (Be responsible) These are general expectations. Specific classroom procedures such as how to line up, how to ask for help, how to be excused to use the restroom, etc. will be practiced and reviewed in class. I will stress personal evaluation of behavior. Each day the students will color in their day on their behavior chart (in MOOSE book) The color chart goes as follows Green = Great Day (4 green days per week = a prize from the treasure box!) Yellow = 1st offense * Red = 2nd offense* Blue = 3rd offense* & Think Sheet sent home *There will be a consequence for all misbehavior. The consequence will depend on the behavior. If a think sheet is sent home, please talk with your child about how his/her behavior choices and how those choices effect the whole class. I will request a conference with families if behavior continues. As a general rule, I follow Teaching with Love & Logic methods of discipline in the class. Please see the Love & Logic website for more information.

Emergency Closings: I would like to set up a calling tree for our class in the event of an emergency closing (Snow days, fog delays, etc...) Please fill out the calling tree sheet and return it to school as soon as possible. Also, please place the calling tree sheet somewhere handy where it can be easily accessible (I taped mine on the inside of a cupboard door.) In the event of an emergency closing, please be sure to call the parents you are responsible for calling.

Field Trips: We take the students on several field trips throughout the school year. Please make sure that the general permission slip is filled out at the office so that your child may participate. Parent volunteers are often needed to chaperone trips and will be chosen on a first come, first served basis.
