My Pre-University Days
In 1991, I joined the APS College of arts and Science and my branch had Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. Goiong to college was fun. No more UNIFORMS and monthly tests. Laboratory practicals was really exciting. Biology was the most interesting and easiest of them all. Maths and Physics sucked!. I hadn't even settled in the college when the halt ticket for the final exams was distributed. To be precise, I hadnt even thought about exams. Then came the twist. It was at this juncture when the newspaper announced the 3rdJunior National Baseball Championship at Madras. To attend or not to attend was a big problem. But I made my mind and got selected. I was in the big leagues again. We again lost in the Semi-finals against Andhra Pradesh. This was the tournament where I moulded into a 'Catcher' or Keeper as in cricket. First year exams was just a week ahead when I returned from Madras. Some how managed to scrape thro with a first class. Lucky Me!.
2ndPU was pretty straneous. Early morning tuitions, College from the morning to the afternoon, Lecture classes in the evening and Studying in the evening. Pretty tough schedule. Time Passed and Final Exams came and went. I scored a moderate 63%. My enterance exams also was not that good. Deciding that there was no chances of getting into engineering, I joinded B.Sc. in Computer Science at Vijaya College against a donation of about 10K rs. The college a clean 3 kms away from my house. It was about 2 months since I joined in June that my Sports Quota interview for Engineering Admissions got underway and since I had played 2 Nationals in Baseball, I scored 45 points. Much to my Surprise, I got a seat in BMS COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, and the branch being 'Electrical and Electronics Engineering'. Lucky ME!. I was destined to be an Engineer. |
