My High School Days
High Shool was one of the best institutions that I have ever been and enjoyed a lot during those days. After completing my middle school at Niveditha, I joined "Model Education Society High School" (MES High) at Jayanagar about 5 kms away from my house. High School brought in a new element of life called "Stress" and "Tension" even though the another element called "HomeWork" became Extinct!. New friends, new faces, new school and going to school by bus was exciting. My cousin Rajesh introduced me to the game of Baseball during the summer vacation s and for the first time I got selected to represent my state of Karnataka in the "Under 16 Junior National Baseball Championships" in Delhi. I was in the Minor Leagues. We lost in the Semi-Finals. Nothing much happened in 8th Standard though. Then came 9thStd and that was the first time I wondered what would happen to me if I did not take my career seriously. Things started to move very fast around me and for the first time I started to understand the pressure of exams and tests in real sense. I really worked hard and even got some ranks in my class. Good start to my next year the "Tension Tenth Standard". Like other hardworking friends I too finished a quarter of my Tenth Standard Syllabus during the summer vacations. It was at this point of time I got bundled with a new bunch of friends. ShashiKiran, Anand Deshpande, Pradeep, Prashanth Hegde. Shashi Kiran was the topper in the class and was the 'undisputed unanimous' leader of the class. Anand Deshpande alias 'Pande' alias 'Ande' was one of those sublime characters who used to do all the mischiefs and never used to get caught for the same. Pradeep was a 'Pain in the Ass' kind of a person as he was always into pranks. He was the king of Pranks and never used to sit quietly for a second. Hegde had a tall build and fell in the 'Adult-Stud' category and because of his 'Macho' persona, he was made the 'Hitler' (Commander-in-Chief) of our class during the PT hour. The final exams went well, I scored about 75% and that ended a phase of life called "High School'. Yes, This phase was the best in it's own terms. |
