La Sagrada Familia

The Spanish LOVE Gaudi! Every place of business seemed to refer to his artistry. The most famous structure is La Sagrada Familia - this kind of modern, gothic, scary (the fury of hell and damnation kind of thing) church that has been under construction since 1883!! since gaudi's death, construction is a bit erractic as the church relies solely on admission sales and private donations. the inside is kind of a letdown due to all the scafolding. on the other hand, it�s sort of like history in the making. gaudi started the church before my lifetime, and the church will likely be completed during my lifetime ... something i can share with my grandkids. The Passion facade (front) was created and built by Subirachs which explains the difference in style between Gaudi's Nativity (back) scene. The combined talents are just spectacular. interesting tidbit: the grounds were full of school kids on field trips.
