| As I entered the park late in the afternoon i heard brazillian samba drums - it was so crowded I couldn't see them but the music was happenin! Lots of people laying around, dancing, playing, flirting ... perfecto!! Reminded me of Berkeley without the B.O. I met this girl who was selling baked goods and we stood talking for a while. Apparently it was for the festival de los ni�os and the brazillian students from the university provided the music. the Casacada fountain, which is what I came to see, is beautiful. Lots of little shows for the kids. Jacob, my nephew would have had a ball. I went over to sit by the lake and watched people in rowboats flirt with each other. Interesting tidbit #2: Catalans like to put a huge dallop of mayonaise instead of ketchup in their cup-o-fries sold at kiosks all over the park ... disgusting idea. This group of Germans saw my facial expression and talked me into trying it. T'was allright but I don't think it's gonna catch on. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

| interesting tidbit #3: The best part about the city so far is the people - very romantic with lots of couples. Grandmas and grandpas are out there strolling with everybody and the women always walk with their hand in the crook of the man�s arm. I just love that!! Benches and fountains populating parks and avenues all over the city. Every restaurant, cafe and ice cream shop (which rivalled the cafes in number and they call scoops, balls!) had outdoor tables - musicians of varying levels of talent wandering from table to table providing music that filled the warm spring evenings. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
