Charts from the craft day

Suggested Order:

On arrival

  1. Put measurement marks on LHS of your board using Black Paint Marker.  Say mark every cm with a small dash and every 5th cm with a larger dash.  Bottom measurement = 50cm and top = 165cm.  To avoid clutter only label every 5cm.
  2. If making the chart exclusively for 1 child you could write your child’s name at the top of the chart ‘Jack’ or ‘Mary- Anne’.  Or you could label your chart ‘Growth Chart’ or something more creative.
  3. Choose some pictures from the decoupage paper.
  4. Select say 5 wooden or diamante decorations or use the wooden pegs.  These could be used to pin photos of children to the chart.
  5. Use the paint brush and PVA to stick the cut outs and decorations to the chart. Mop up any excess PVA with a paper towel.

 Other:

The MDF was purchased as 1200mm x1200mm sheets from Bunnings. It has been cut into 200mm wide strips, holes have been drilled in the top, undercoat and 2 coats of blue or lime paint were applied.  Thanks heaps to committee who did all the prep work.

Remind people there are likely to be 2 or 3 people to each piece of decoupage paper so don’t cut through other pictures to get a picture – carefully cut out the picture and any other smaller pictures which aren’t required place say in an ice cream container on the table for other people to use.  Don’t throw out little pictures (flowers, butterflies etc), if they are not used for this craft they may be used for another occasion.

How it went:

The craft went well with lots of positive feedback.   Mums seemed very pleased with their creations. The craft took the entire MOPs session.
