Greetings! Entropia Recruits

If you are new to
Project Entropia, this site is for you. Fade will start you off on the right foot. PE is a lot of fun, and you will meet many neat people in the game. However, there is a lot for noobs to learn.. (and noob is not intended to be derrogatory). First off, visit the Terms page to learn some of the Lingo. I also highly recommend that you read the Do's and Don'ts page.

Now, you may be thinking: "I just need to get a gun so I can hunt  and make money." ...Right?

Wrong. PE is not like most other MMORPGs, because of its scope, and the fact that its economy is tied to real money. This makes PE a very challenging (and potentially expensive) game. Especially for new players. However, if you are very clever and patient, you can play for free or little money...but it is not easy. As more people play the game, it should also become easier and less expensive to play. Ideally, if you can budget a certain amount every month, like other MMORPGs you can find a balance of fun and affordability that is right for you

I am not trying to deter you from playing Project Entropia. But people enjoy different kinds of game challenges, and I want you to know about the unique challenges to playing this one.

To illustrate the challenge,  let's say, you do get a nice rifle and 10 ped of ammo, and go out for a hunt. Odds are, you will come back with somewhere between 5 and 8 ped in loot. Additionally, you need to spend money to repair the decay on your weapons and armor once in a while.  So you actually lose money every time you hunt. The same is even more true for all other professions (except for trading).

So, why hunt?.. well, aside from being a little fun, it is how you get your skills up. Eventually, when you have high enough skills, you may start getting close to breaking even when you go hunting (or in your chosen profession). But it takes a long time and lots of practice to get to that stage. In the mean time, you need money in order to buy ammo. If you are able to deposit money into the game it will be much easier.

For every 10 US$ yo deposit, you get about 97 PED. This is enough to get some nice basic gear. But nowhere near what you need to have enough money for all the ammo you will need in the game. So, even if you can deposit, you too will have to be clever and patient,  (unless you are so rich that you don't care about money). Even players that can deposit money should read how to play Project Entropia without depositing on the Playing Without Money page.

Now, before you start to stress, just remember, that MindArc is in business, and the goal of all business is to make a profit. There is nothing evil or immoral about that. They spend their day making a game that many of us like to play, and they and thier investors deserve a return on thier efforts. If you don't like the product, don't pay. If you don't pay, and it is not enough fun for you, don't play.  It is that simple.

I hope the information on this site helps you to have a lot of fun, and make some new friends in the Project Entropia universe.

And remember, if you see an Old Alpha around, be nice and help them to walk across the street.
