Murtagh: Ah,
my name's O'Conner, Murtagh O'Conner, M-U-R-T-A-G-H. I'm from Wexford
on the southeast coast of Ireland.
Michael: How
long have you been in Australia?
Murtagh: How
long have I been in Australia? Since 1969. That's 32 years. I've
spent more time in Australia than I have Ireland.
Michael: Are
you from a small town?
Murtagh: Ah,
15,000 population. It's a bit more now, ah, it's 20,000.
Michael: When
was the last time you were back?
Murtagh: Ah,
1966. That's [laughing] 37 years ago. [really 35 years]
Michael: You've
kept your accent.
Murtagh: Ah,
yes, yeah. That's not something you lose, is it?
Michael: No.
And ah, whatwhat do you miss about home?
Murtagh: Ah,
ah, well, nothing much at the moment seeing I've been out of it
that long. Family have [inaudible]. Ah, two brothers in Dublin,
one sister in Wexford. Parents have passed away, eh, so I have no
immediate family there apart from my sister. A brother in Canada.
Eh, that's about it, eh?
Michael: OK,
good. Thank you very much.
Murtagh: It's
all right, you're welcome.
