Its the start of the prequels! After nearly 20 years of no Star Wars, we finally get to see how it all started. Darth Vader is still 9 year old Anakin Skywalker, and the twins Luke and Leia aren't even thoughts yet. This episode marks the beginning of Senator Palpatine's rise to power, and the discovery of the most powerful jedi of all time, young Skywalker.

So, what is Episode 1 all about? Here are some key points of the movie:

• The Trade Federation appear to be disloyal to the republic, and are heavily armed.
• Anakin Skywalker, a vergence in the force, is discovered by Qui-Gon Jin.
• Senator Palpatine is elected Chancellor of the Republic.
• The Jedi Council discover that Dark Jedi have surfaced again.
• Qui-Gon Jin dies at the hands (or saber) of Darth Maul, a dark jedi later killed by Obi-wan.
• Anakin will "bring balance" and attracts the attention of Palpatine.

This is the light hearted beginning to Star Wars, where all is well until the Dark Jedi begin to emerge again. This indicates a much darker theme for Episode 2. Here are some of my favourite moments:

• Simply hearing the opening credits for an all new Star Wars film.
• The fantastic pod race with Anakin and Sebulba.
• The duel between Obi-wan, Qui-Gon and Darth Maul.
