    Chewbacca

The "Walking Carpet" Chewbacca is a Wookiee from a planet called Kashyyyk (check the galactic map to find where that is). He is a tough warrior with long claws (as well as fur of course) ideal for climbing in the massive trees found on his planet. His courage is second to none, and his willingness to help his friends, in particular Han Solo, is quite remarkable. Chewbacca

Chewbacca was once a slave of the Empire, treated like dirt, and used for some of the toughest physical labour. His home planet was far away when he first met Han Solo. Solo was working for the Empire at the time, a young pilot with surprising skill, but one who was beginning to question the ideals of the Imperial Leaders. Seeing the Wookiee slaves was enough to make Han decide to leave the Empire, and rescue the Wookiee in the process. Chewbacca was free, and felt that he owed Solo his life, and took up a "Life debt" which he honours for the rest of his life.

As smugglers, the adventures of Chewbacca and Han Solo are famous. Aboard the Millennium Falcon the two journeyed to all corners of the galaxy, taking on the toughest jobs in the outer rim, and dealing with all kinds of opponents, including quite frequently the Hutts.

When Han became caught up with the Rebel Alliance, Chewbacca followed, and he too became a part of the rebels. Since then he has not only served the New Republic, but also Leia Organa on a more personal note, protecting her children and family during the many wars and battles during the years after their birth.

His final sacrifice resulted in the Wookiee's death, but in doing so, he saved not only Han Solo and his son, but also many other refugees, fleeing a planet about to be struck by a falling moon. The Yuuzhan Vong were responsible, and it was the end of one of the greatest Warriors that ever lived.
