Vol.4 : Krillin and Gohan

Next up is the Krillin and Gohan. These figures were packed together in a two pack. Probably done since these are pretty small figures so Bandai felt best charging a single price for the two figures then making customers buy each figure separately. Thats just my theory.

Krillin and Gohan are in scale with the rest of the Super Collection figures. Bandai did a good job of capturing the scale of the DBZ fighters in the Super Collection toyline. Krillin and Gohan feature the typical Arm and waist articulation. The arms are articulated in the same manner as the Perfect Gokou from the Super Battle Collection line and the Gokou from the Super Collection line. Each figure features very good sculpts with nice details. I would have personally preferred if the six dots on Krillin's head were depressed and not so pronounced. Its the first thing one notices when looking at the Krillin figure. I would have also liked it if Krillin had a different facial impression.

Overall I really like this Krillin figure as I believe its well done and accurately captures Krillin. The Gohan figure is also excellent due to its accurate scale and nice sculpting.

All the Super Collection figures are very hard to find due to their age and rarity. Currently the Krillin and Gohan 2 pack is one of the hardest and most wanted Super Collection figures. I'm not sure if it is the hardest one to find. I would personally say the most wanted and hardest to find Super Collection figure is Trunks or Super Saiyan Trunks due to his huge popularity. Due to DBZ's increasing popularity in the US I would recommend you grab any Super Collection figures when you see them as they are becoming tougher and tougher to find due to the number of new DBZ fans and collectors coming on board every single day. When I call these rare I mean it!!!

I just want to add this note before I get swamped with email. I have no idea where you can find or buy these toys today. Your best bet is to check eBay as they show up there every once in awhile. The last website shop I saw that had these for sale was Action Ace. But if I remember correctly that was about a year or so ago.

Here is a picture of the Super Collection Gokou and Krillin. I've also inculded the newer Irwin Krillin for comparision. What do you think? Which Krillin looks best?

Vol.5 : Super Saiyan Vegeta

Super Saiyan Vegeta Close Up

Here is Super Saiyan Vegeta. Vegeta angered by Gokou's surpassing him in becoming a Saiyan Saiyan pushes himself to the limit through intense training. This training almost destroyed Vegeta but it paid off as he finally transformed into a Super Saiyan. Vegeta is well liked by DBZ fans because of his badass attitude and incredible cockiness. He believes he is the greatest fighter in the universe and will stop at nothing to prove it. Vegeta originally started off as a villian but because of numerous events in his life he gradually turns to the side of good, but he never loses his trademark, that arrogant attitude and cockiness.

The Super Collection figure of SS Vegeta is well done just as the other figures in the series. The SS Vegeta is taller and much bulkier then the Super Collection Vegeta. Take a look at the picture below displaying the two figures side by side. You can clearly see the difference in size. The SS Vegeta also features that funky two tone paint found in the regular Vegeta. These pictures do a better job of displaying this. Vegeta has articulated arms and waist just as the other Super Collection figures. Nothing to brag about but its not any worse then the Super Battle Collection. However the Super Collection versions of Vegeta are worlds beyond the Super Battle Collection figures in terms of detail and articulation.

Vol.6 : Piccolo

Piccolo Close Up

Piccolo is up next. Piccolo in Dragon Ball Z is the son of the original Piccolo in Dragon Ball. In the beginning of DBZ, Piccolo's intentions are evil just has his father. Gokou killed the original Piccolo in DB. Piccolo's main goal was to kill Gokou for killing his father. In the beginning of DBZ the Saiyan Raditz appears threatening to destroy earth. Piccolo realizes how powerful Raditz is and he decides to help Gokou in defending the Earth from the threat caused by Raditz. Gokou dies in the battle against Raditz. Piccolo later trains Gohan as he witnesses his power while he and Gokou battled Raditz. Training Gohan was the major event that caused a change in Piccolo from an evil person to a good person. In the beginning of DBZ Piccolo is a strong, formidable fighter but by the end of DBZ is surpassed by many stronger fighters.

The Piccolo figure is the largest of the Super Collection figures. He is one huge chunk of vinyl. He features a removable cape that is constructed of a soft vinyl, which is slightly flexible. He has very nice detailing down to the fingernails. Bandai did another excellent job in the sculpting of Piccolo.

I've taken pictures of Piccolo with his cape and with it removed. You get to see the details in the cape and the details in the body of the figure. Piccolo also features the same standard Super Collection articulation. There's plenty of pictures of Piccolo for you to enjoy.
