Welcome to "DragonArm's Collection." This page will showcase toys from Benny's collection. Benny created the COOL site logo you see on each page of my website. Without that logo there would be no EAST meets WEST toys.

Currently, there is only two toys shown on this page. But if you have visited my site before the toys should be very familiar. The two toys displayed are the 1/100 RX-93 Nu Gundam and the 1/100 MG Sazabi. Those two kits were chosen by DragonArm since they are his favorite mobile suit designs. These model kits currently are not painted. Just assembled straight out the box and they still look great.

We begin with the RX-93 Nu Gundam. This kit was released in the Char's Counterattack series of models based on the "Char's Counterattack" movie. This is an older Gundam kit before the introduction of High Grades, Master Grades and Perfect Grades. Older Gundam model kits usually require a lot of painting but surprisingly the Nu Gundam does not. This Nu Gundam model is the 1/100 scale. There were a few 1/144 Nu Gundams released also.

The Nu Gundam model is well made and has pretty good articulation. This is an older kit and so it can't compete with the articulation found on the newer High Grades. The Nu Gundam is pretty much molded in the correct colors of plastic, which is surprising considering the age of the kit. But in order to get the kit perfect, painting is required. A little more painting is required then the average High Grade.

One of the gimmicks this toy features is die cast weights which to be placed within the legs. As far as I know this is the only Gundam kit, which features these types of weights. This was most likely done by Bandai to help keep the model planted and upright. This model includes the Nu Gundam's fin fannels, which are attached to its back. The fin fannels make this Gundam very top heavy and it constantly droops back.

The Nu Gundam also includes a bunch of accessories, which include the Gundam standards; shield, beam rifle, hyper bazooka, beam sabers and the not so standard fin fannels. The fin fannels are a type of weapon used by some mobile suits during "Char's Counterattack". I have no pictures of the beam sabers as they are molded in solid white and require painting to be finished. Benny get on it.

All in all the Nu Gundam is a pretty good kit. It's currently the only 1/100 representation of the Nu Gundam. It features good detailing for a Gundam kit of this age. It does suffer from the normal things that effect Gundam models. Its joints are loose and the sucker doesn't want to stand straight with the fin fannels attached. If you remove the fin fannels he has a much easier time standing up. The loose joints can also be improved. The most basic solutions I have heard is sticking pieces of paper or a tiny drop of glue I the joint. But I've never tried these and can't verify they work.

Many Gundam model fans have been dying for a good model of the Sazabi. Bandai finally answered their pleas and released the Master Grade Sazabi. The Master Grade kit is based on the Sazabi Char Aznable pilots in "Char's Counterattack". This Sazabi is the last mobile suit Char pilots as he also dies along with Amuro.

The MG Sazabi is the biggest and baddest MG kit to date. Bandai really went all out with this kit. This sucker is huge. This is expected, as the Sazabi is a much larger mobile suit then the Nu Gundam. The box the Sazabi comes in also is very big. It's the biggest MG box yet. It's almost the size of a Perfect Grade kit.

Take a look at the pics and you can see how big this kit is. Bandai pulls no stops with the MGs and packs in everything they can. I wish I could show you everything this kit possesses but there is just way too much. Be rest assured that it is packed with gimmicks. There's the movable monoeye. The wrist mounted beam sabers. The beam tomahawk which can be mounted in the shield. The removable funnels which are stored in an openable compartment. Also the fingers of this kit are also articulated. Check the hand shot out. The handle of this model alone features more articulation then your average Star Wars figure.

The Sazabi overall is very well articulated as all the MG kits are. But as you can imagine all the armor makes it tough to get it into any awesome poses and positions. There is just too, too much to list with the Sazabi. Take a look at the pictures and see what you think of the kit. One thing to consider if you get a Sazabi is to make sure that electric bill is paid cause you'll be up all night assembling this guy. Good luck!

For those who don't know the Master Grade kits are right below the almighty Perfect Grade kits. The Master Grade kits are excellently done and require very little painting as almost everything is molded in the correct color. But there still are some tiny pieces and sections that will require painting. The Master Grade features tons of articulation, hidden compartments and openable hatches and such. Personally I prefer the MG kits over the PG kits as you have a wider selection of mobile suits and they are scaled at 1/100. The price of the MG is also lower then the Perfect Grades. Bandai also makes 1/100 HG kits so the selection of mobile suits is even bigger. The Perfect Grades, which are Bandai's crowning achievement, have a very limited selection due to their 1/60 scale. Also these kits aren't cheap at all.
