Shopping in Baton Rouge is good. The largest mall in Louisiana, the Mall of Louisiana, is located here. The city also has several Super Walmarts, two Sam's, a Big K-Mart, and many other stores. Mall of Louisiana: A huge mall, the biggest in Louisiana, though not near as big as some malls in Dallas. It has a wide variety of stores. There is a Dillards, Foleys, McRae's, and Sears. Some of the smaller stores include Abercrombie and Fitch, American Eagle, The Buckle, and many others. I would recommend you to go there and see what it has to offer. It is located right off I-10 on Bluebonnet. There are many places to eat in the mall as well as several restaurants surronding it. I only recommend DeAngelo's and Ralph and Kacoos if you eat nearby the Mall. Cortana Mall: This mall on Airline and Florida has rapidly decreased in quality and popularity since the Mall of Louisiana opened. I thought it was dirty and had a poor selection the last time I went. There is a Mervyn's and that's all I remember. What draws most people here is the Old Navy which is located outside the mall. This Old Navy is larger than the other Old Navy I will discuss later. Super Wal-Mart, Sam's, and other stores (Siegen): This complex of stores is becoming a popular spot to shop. It is located of I-10 at Siegen (take a right). The Super Walmart is nice and you will find everything you need here. Sam's has nicer quality stuff, but you usually have to buy it in bulk. Remember, you need a membership card to get in. Baton Rouge's other Old Navy is located here too. It isn't as big as the other, but is new. There is also a shoe store and a few other clothing stores out here. A Lowe's Home Improvement (like Home Depot) just opened in case you needed to get some heavy duty stuff for your room. Super Wal-Mart (O'Neal): This Super Walmart is just like the rest of them. It's not as crowded as the one on Siegen though. However, it takes about 5 minutes longer to get there normally. It's located on O'Neal off I-12 headed to Hammond. It's about 15 miles from campus almost in Denham Springs. Walmart (S. Acadian): This Walmart is effectionately known as "Ghetto Mart." I haven't figured out why. One person I know was robbed at gun point there, but I think it is relatively safe. I shop there all the time, almost once every two weeks. It is very convenient as it is located just minutes away from campus at the corner of Perkins and South Acadiana (Stanford turns into S Acadian). Don't be scared off from it because most LSU students shop here. The Hobby Shop: This is a neat hobby and craft store located near campus. It is huge and has everything those who love craft making would need. It is located on College Drive behind Koto Japanese and Taco Bell, between Perkins and I-10. Office Depot: located across College Drive from The Hobby Shop. Good place to get office, school, and computer stuff. If you like chocolate, there is a chocolate shop in the same shopping center a bit closer to I-10. Florists: The Heromann family dominats the florist industry in Baton Rouge. They have one on Highland and Lee as well as their headquarters at Government near Park. There are also a few other florists on Highland further south than Lee. The Union - You can get school and dorm stuff here, but it's very expensive. You'll pay at least 50% more for stuff here than going to Walmart. I do, however, recommend getting your LAN Internet card here. Also has a Barnes and Noble bookstore in it, which isn't half bad. Barnes and Noble Bookstore: Good spot
to get books. It's a very large bookstore. It's also a good
place to spend some time waiting for your movie to start. It's located
right across from the theatre on Citiplace right off Corporate.
