Family History Fair In August 2007, our ward hosted a Family History Fair, and invited the public. We had been working on it for 6 months, and it turned out great. I love family history, so I agreed to help the lady with all the enthusiasm for it... |

Marcia Ceresa is a Cuban lady with a thick accent and this warm love for everyone, including those who've died. I call her my spanish grandma, and she was the driving force and fuel behind the fair.

Dave and my friend Julie DeBoskey hang wire for hanging sign. The
multi-talented Julie was helping with the fair's coordination and
printed material.
I love Julie's sense of humor and creative genius. I found out during planning that we're both "pleasers"--we love to work hard on a project for others to enjoy. All we need is direction and we'll pull out all the stops. Love it! |

Julie's parents set up the Temple table, and most impressive, redrew a life-size copy of the painting of Elijah appearing to Joseph Smith the prophet. (He restored the sealing keys, fulfilling the prophecy of turning the hearts of the children to their fathers in the latter-days.)

This is my children's family tree. I had wanted to paint one for a long
time, and the family history fair was a good enough reason. (It's a cell
phone pic, so it's fuzzy.) It has mine & Dave's ancestors written on the branches, and our names "carved" on the trunk. Little picture frames are glued to the tree with black and white pics of our ancestors, and I painted little objects like airplanes, carpenter's tools, and quilt squares to represent ancestor stories. I later painted and boy and girl in the treehouse. It hangs in the spare bedroom. |

Terri Eanes brought her historical military figures and her military family history. She has military ancestors going back to Norman and Roman times! She won the best table award.

My favorite poem of the night was at Liz Cameron's grandparent-grandchild table filled with items from the olden days. It sums up my feelings about ancestors.
