  Christmas in Florida

Between Thanksgiving weddings and New Year's homecomings, Dave convinced me it was too much travel to do anything but stay home for Christmas. And we were part of the church Christmas program on the 23rd.

Our baby Christmas tree was red this year (when you have enough ornaments for a full-size tree, you have to pick, and it might as well match.)   Last year was a white shell theme.  Note our favorite Christmas decoration, the caroling cow on the piano. When you squeeze him, he moo's Deck the Halls in a deep beefy voice. Love it.

And our presents are piled beneath. The big present was Dave's new bike, and a printer/scanner/copier. So now we bike together, and copy stuff.

Here's Dave the brainiac with his new magnetic toys. His sister Melanie knows her nerdy brother way too well. He made all sorts of things out of it.

Christmas Day we hiked in Jonathan Dickenson State Park. Even with short daylight hours, and wearing shorts, and only walking an hour, it was pretty warm...

  ...and beautiful.

We had a some friends in the ward over for Christmas dinner. The Shurtz were expecting their new baby any day, and couldn't travel, so it was nice having them to eat with us.  This year I made a Christmas decoration to hang in our chandelier. Dave's comment: "But where are you going to store it in our house?" In January, then, we got rid of the stuff so we could store our new stuff.
