  Epcot

We met Dave's parents, grandparents, and aunts and uncles in Orlando in May for Dave's grandparents' 60th anniversary. Dave stands in front of the Epcot ball.

Thanks to our wheelchair-riding grandparents and Uncle Howard, and Dad who kept getting us fast passes, we went to the front of every line. There was beautiful Disney music playing everywhere. And since they had been at Disney World for a week, they knew what to do and where to go. So:

                           family

                       +  perfect weather

                       +  no lines

                       +  no decisions

                       +  the land of happiness

                           perfect vacation

Self-portrait on the "Finding Nemo" ride (we're riding in a seashell). We thought it would be too kiddy for adults, but it was amazing. Toward the end, the Nemo characters are all hologrammed into real fish tanks, singing songs. We came out at the end saying "How did they do that!?!"

We loved Soaring, and were bored with the ride in the Epcot ball. Uncle Allen was right when he said that the ride inside would be better if it was twice as fast.

Aw, Donald thinks I'm cute!  The topiary characters were amazing.

Behind me is the World pavilion. I loved walking through all the buildings and settings. My favorites were the Moroccan architecture, the Japanese store, the China 360° movie, the American drum-and-fife core, and the brightly-colored Mexican shops and active volcano. I love that all the world people are really citizens of that country.

Here Dave, Uncle Allen, Dad, and Uncle Howard in the scooter pose before going into the Mission to Mars ride.

Mission to Mars was a fantastic ride! The 4 G's almost made me ill, but the graphics screen really made you feel like you were launching off the earth. You can watch the movie Apollo 13, play space computer games, but you don't know what it's really like until you ride this one!

Dave's grandparents, Jay and Jane Robertson, live in Arizona. Grandpa is a retired engineer, and plays the trumpet and cello. Grandma is a retired teacher and mom, and she is very jolly and cheerful. She likes to shock the grandkids by eating strange things, like ketchup on apples.

Dad's favorite thing is the English farce, and was picked out of the crowd to join in for the second time in his life. He was the King, and Uncle Allen was asked to to be Sir Galahad.

They had to do corny things with the actors. The 2 brothers, Robertson fun-seekers to the core, ate it up. Definitely was the highlight!

That night we celebrated Grandma and Grandpa's 60th anniversary and Dave's parent's 31st with a dinner. Dave made his "mid-July" soup, and I made a special salad and brownies.

The next day we went to church for an hour and said goodbye. We sure had a good time!
