The story of Annie is set in 1933 at the depth of the great depression. Abandoned by her parents in 1922, Annie is left with only a broken locket and a letter from her parents promising they'll be back to get her. She tries to escape from the New York Municipal Orphanage and the drunken discipline of cruel spinster, Miss Hannigan. Annie is chosen to spend Christmas with one of America's richest men, Oliver Warbucks, who decides to assist Annie in the search for her real parents. After many adventures, it is discovered that Annie's parents have died. 'Daddy' Warbucks adopts her and the story ends on a happy and optimistic note as Annie prepares for a new life and America looks forward to the New Deal and future prosperity. Programme >>
