Amber - I was born in 1964 and am an only child (it has its advantages - you get spoilt rotten as a kid). I've lived in Aberdeen all my life, attending two local schools and later the University, where I gained a BSc. in Zoology.
My ambition as a small child was to join the Police Force and to gain the relevant experience I joined the West Midlands Police Reserve and became a Special Constable for three years.

I joined Birmingham Health Authority which also included a ladies five-a-side football team where we went on to win five years running. There I made some great mates and enjoyed a fab social life!! I've since moved on to become a Partners Secretary at a company in Sutton Coldfield.

Drag (and a bit of campness!) has always been in my blood and my earliest recollection was of the late, great Liberace and Hinge & Bracket. Over the years I have watched a number of 'artists' but there was always something missing.

My first knowledge of Lily was when my mother quoted "There is a monster of a woman on breakfast TV". When I saw her I knew that she was 'the one'!

I have a strong passion for 'The Avengers' (that was my excuse for having the 'Purdey wedge' when I was 7!) and I was thrilled when I found out that it was also Paul's fav TV programme.

Unable to find any work in my chosen field, I drifted into the Oil Industry, a major employer here. I got my first taste of computers when I worked as a Technical Assistant with Total and later BP. Nowadays, I couldn't do without my laptop and spend endless hours surfing the Net, creating and updating websites.

Earning a salary gave me the opportunity to travel regularly, mainly to London, to see various shows and concerts (usually Cliff Richard) and that means a lot of miles when you live in the North East of Scotland.

I 'discovered' the comedy scene quite late in life and indeed it wasn't until 1995 that I first saw Lily on the stage. I was in London for the Royal Variety Performance, in which Cliff was top of the bill, but had a free night before that. At that time, Lily was making her West End debut starring in 'Prisoner Cell Block 'H'' at the Queen's Theatre. I'd always watched the TV series but had only seen Lily a few times on TV although I'd liked what I'd seen. After seeing her on stage I was totally hooked. The show was such a scream. I waited at the stage door afterwards with hordes of other people and met Paul for the first time and got his autograph. Coincidentally, I saw Paul for the second time a couple of days later when he happened to accompany his good friend and fellow comedian, Mark Trevorrow (Bob Downe), to the Royal Variety party. I've since come to love and adore Mark too and also the lovely Julian Clary. A camp trio maybe but comedy greats all three.

The woolly pully brigade!
When 'Prisoner' toured the UK in 1997 I made sure I saw as many shows as I could, including every performance in Aberdeen. I couldn't believe my luck when in 1999 Lily and Bob toured together. My two favourite comedians on the one bill. I was in heaven. Amber & Paul
The long and the short of it!
My only regret (which is beyond my control) is not seeing Lily in her heyday at the Tavern but I have since frequented it a number of times to soak up the atmosphere and see her old buddy Regina Fong. (I strongly recommend the house vodka!)

Well that's enough about me - I'd like to thank my mate Amber for being a wizz with the computer, Brendan Murphy for approving this site, Joan Marshrons for all her help and Paul for being the fantastic Lily Savage!!

Unknown to us at the time, we had in fact attended the same shows in Manchester for 'Prisoner' and High Wycombe on the 'The Lily Savage Show' tour. We finally met on the last night of that tour. Appropriately, it was in Lily's neck of the woods, outside the Liverpool Empire. We had been waiting, for what seemed like hours, in the freezing cold, at the stage door for Paul to leave so we could have a few words and get an autograph. He probably thought we were mad to have waited so long. As we left, we discovered we were both staying in a hotel just along the road. Had we known how long we had to wait we'd have nipped back to our rooms to put on an extra layer of clothes since we were dressed for a night out and not Winter. We still have a laugh when we remember how dreadful the hotel was.

By chance, we came across each other on the Internet very shortly after and have kept in touch by email ever since. We try to meet up as often as possible by arranging to go to the same TV recordings and theatre shows. It takes a lot of organising since we live hundreds of miles apart but we manage somehow. On one occasion, we were both in Aberdeen for 'Annie' one night but had to make a mad dash to London the next day, by plane, train, car and tube to catch Paul at the 'Stonewall Equality Show.' He was mighty surprised to see us there too.

Now you know all about us, if you see us around at one of Lily's or Paul's shows, do come and say 'hello'.
