Edmond Bacon has lived long enough to become a legend within his own lifetime.  His vision of a vital city, nourished by the flow of its citizens, led to the revitalization of Center City Philadelphia and Society Hill. His belief in his ideas and his patient planting of the seeds of his ideas resulted in  the vitality he envisioned. 

Anne Barfield is an image consultant, whose hobby is raising chickens. Ann derives her inspiration and passion visually.  She is an avid photographer, and her sensitivity to the nuances of color, harmony, and the response that colors elicit aids her and us to construct a life we love.  

 Bruce Barshop is a lawyer, entrepreneur and businessman, who has been able to bring other people's passions to fulfillment.  His wife wanted to bring big name comedy to San Antonio, so they started the River City Comedy Club, and now have three comedy clubs around the country. The comedy clubs led them to Jeff Valdez, and the formation of an Hispanic oriented, English language television network, SiTV.

 Dr. Richard and Bunny Becker work together on creating award-winning wines in their vineyard in the Texas Hill Country.  Their wines have achieved such excellence in a few short years that wine experts from Robert Mondavi himself to the owner of Kendall-Jackson have applauded the award-winning wines.

Barbara Belejack, the new managing editor of the Texas Observer, lived in Mexico for more than ten years, making her living as a freelance journalist. She studied law and  worked as a lawyer in Texas, before becoming a journalist. Her first job was in Brownsville, Texas where she developed a love for the border and for Texas as well as Mexico where she feels most at home.

Gregg Bell, a triathlete and fitness trainer, knows how to motivate himself and the people he trains.  His focus and success as an athlete teaches us to set realistic goals and strive to do the best that we can do physically as well as mentally.  

lona Bell, Professor of English, Williams College, author of Elizabethan Women and the Poetry of Courtship studies Shakespeare’s love poetry and poetry of the early modern age. Ten years of research yielded secrets about the role of women in the renaissance that give keys to the interactions between men and women today.   

 Robert Bell, William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of English, Williams College, founder of Program for Effective Teaching at the college, winner of the Robert Foster Cherry Award for Great Teachers has found a way to mentor young professors in a way that gives them the benefit of the experience of those who came before and creates a community that might otherwise be lost in the pressures of academe.

Bender.gif (8098 bytes)Ralph Bender is founder and CEO of Bender and Associates, an architectural consulting firm. He is also a life-long athlete who doesn’t do things part way.  His interest in the modern penthalon  has taken him onto the board of the Olympic committee for that sport. 

Tito Beveridge distills and synthesizes. Literally. He learned about making liquor from an uncle and about machinery while working in the oil fields of Argentina. He came back to Texas to produce Tito’s Handmade Vodka, which has been given four stars by spirit journal.  

Robin Black, interior designer, studied liberal arts in Paris, but found that interior design combined her interest in art and architecture. Citing O’Neil Ford, for whom she worked for ten years, as a role model, Robin has brought her skills to projects as diverse as a yacht, a lighthouse, student dormitories, offices, banks, churches, retail, and residential spaces.

George Blasing  gave up a career in retail with a national chain to devote his time and his life to dinosaurs. He lectures frequently at elementary schools and public forums, and runs his own retail store which sells fossils and other items to children as well as serious collectors.

Irvin J. Borowsky, businessman, founder of the North American Publishing Company, writer, glass collector, philanthropist, was taught by his parents to give back to the community, and that he has done with the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia which opened in the year 2000.

Jay Brandon is trained as a writer and an attorney. While practicing law, he has published more than 10 legal thrillers which have not only received favorable reviews and wide readership, but also been optioned by first rate actors and directors for the movies. His fiction writing allows him to live lives he wouldn’t other experience.  

Edward Burger,  Professor of Mathematics Williams College, author The Heart of Mathematics:An Invitation to Effective Thinking and a series of mathematics CD-Ram mathematics textbooks for Thinkwell Press never intended to become a mathematician. Ed worked as a stand up comedian in Austin while going to graduate school at University of Texas at Austin. He uses his penchant for comedy to inspire students to learn mathematics in order to solve problems that aren’t only mathematical.        

James MacGregor Burns Pulitzer Prize winning Presidential historian, author of twelve outstanding books, including Leadership, the seminal book in the study of leadership. speaks with us about his career and his influence on the movement to train and develop moral and effective leaders in politics, business, and many other endeavors.
