ACTIVITIES
At Little Leapers, your children will take part in a number of planned activities every day.  These activities are designed to encourage the development of fine motor skills, gross motor skills, cognitive ability and language in a fun way.  Emphasis is also placed on self-help and social skills as well as learning the alphabet and numbers.

Activities include:
C
ircle Time- this involves singing songs, reading stories, discussing the weather and calendar, group games and show and share.

Arts and Crafts- a variety of materials will be available for your child everyday for arts and crafts.  I plan crafts that go along with monthly themes and that help children practice fine motor skills while expressing their creativity.

Monthly Themes- Some examples of themes include space, circus, insects, zoo, dinosaurs, under the sea, colours and many others.  The playroom is re-organized each month to provide the children with new theme related toys and activities.  Crafts, songs, stories and games are planned around the theme each month.  Science activities often relate directly to the monthly theme.

Outings and Trips- We attend the play to learn program at the Ontario Early Years Centre each week.  We also spend time at local parks.  Occasionally, we enjoy theme related field trips.

Sensory-Children learn best through exploring their senses.  Super sensory activities are available everyday.  These include water play, sand play, shaving cream, playdough, goop and many more.

Free Play- My playroom is set up into learning centres.  Children have opportunities to choose their own toys and games throughout the day.

Outdoor Time- We spend an average of 2 hours each day outside depending on the weather.  Circle time and crafts may take place outside.  We play in my backyard or at local parks.
