![]() WELCOME TO THE DEWBERRY MUDBOGGERS AND OHIO MOWER RACERS DRIVERS PROFILE PAGES!! |
Mark named his mower this because (and this is in his own words):
This mower was ready to be scrapped when Mark bought it at an auction in Ashtabula, Ohio, where he's from. Mark's mower is a QN8-32 Toro rear engine riding mower. The original motor's serial # indicated that it was manufactured in 1984. That's where Mark's racing number came into the picture (#84).
Here's a picture of Mark's mower all loaded up for the trip to the Nationals in Rockford, Illinois. Mark has been racing the the United States Lawnmower Racing Association since 1995, and with the Ohio Mower Racers since their start in 1998.
Here's another shot of Mark's mower loaded up! (You can't take too many pictures of your mower when it is in good shape -- you never know what will happen on race day!!)
This picture shows all of Mark's trophies (thru 1998). As you can tell, Mark does pretty good for himself.
Here's a shot of Mark's mower (#84) and a few others at the 1998 USLMRA STA-BIL Nationals in Rockford, Illinois. Mark has participated at every USLMRA National event since he started in 1995.
More pictures of Mark's trophies. Mark found out about lawnmower racing when his father stumbled upon an article in the "Farm and Dairy" Magazine out of Salem, Ohio.
Mark keeps his trophies proudly on display. Mark said that 1998 was the first year he really attended many races. He completed all other races (other than those listed below) without mechanical breakdowns. Uh yeah, but, he wrecked a few times but managed to get on his "buggy" and finish. Mark won 3rd Place in USLMRA Point Standings for AP Class for 1998.
Here's Mark's HUGE trophies he won in Mendota. They were 3 and 4 feet tall! Mark had them laying out and they looked just like he was ready to go skiing! Mark bought himself a new engine and competed in the B Prepared Class in 1999 on the USLMRA circuit. Don't be surprised if he does a quick engine change and switches between the A Prepared and B Prepared classes!
Here's a few pictures of Mark with the ladies of Hooters.
Here's some shots of some ladies posing with Mark at a car show in Cleveland. Mark participated in both of the USLMRA Show Down, Prolong, and No Leak Automotive Seals Challenge Regionals on July 1-2, 2000, in Lisle, Illinois. On September 1, 2000, the USLMRA hosted a regional and National event in Greenfield (Indianapolis), Indiana. This was a very tight track with MANY racers, so passing was tough! Mark participated in the AP and SP Classes for both events. At the Prolong Regional event in the AP Class, Mark finished in 21st (out of 24 racers). In the 1-2-3 positions were Kurt Schwengle (WI), Steve Sergent (OH), and Dink Strunk (AL). In the SP Class Regional, Mark finished in a very respectible 6th position (out of 22 racers). In the SP Class, Mark had a "random finish" with Dale Ost (Michigan) taking the checkered, Dave Hertel (Wisconsin) and Art Neaville (Michigan) both in 2nd, and in 3rd was Mitch Kiper (Illinois). Mark competed in the 4th Annual STA-BIL Buckeye Regional in Marysville, Ohio, at the All Ohio Balloon Festival on August 18, 2001. Mark had a random finish, with the top three being David Smith (New Jersey), Dale Ost (Michigan), and Mark Caruso (Michigan). In the USLMRA 2001 Season Point Standings, Mark finished in a very respectible 11th place out of 59 racers. Mark raced quite a few races in 2002 and on many different mowers. With his time split between preparing so many mowers, we're all wondering when he has time to sleep and come up with all of his Puns (he is known as the "King of Puns" on the racing circuit). He raced in Marysville, Ohio, in 7/02, and Did Not Start in the SP Class and had a random finish in the BP Class (but it at least started!). He also raced in Celina, Ohio, in 7/02 and also had a random field finish in BP Class. Mark finished in 16th Place during the Mansfield, Ohio, National Championship. Mark finished in 10th Place in overall Point Standings in the BP Class. His 2002 results are all listed below. Lets see how Mark has done over the years....
