SOD WARRIORS! COME OUT AND PLAY!?!?!?!?

A book entitled: "CRACKER INGENUITY: TIPS FROM THE TRAILER PARK FOR THE CHRONICALLY BROKE" by P.T. Elliott and E.M. Lowry, was just released March, 2003, which published some of Trish Potenza's photos in a lawnmower racing article (pages 136-138). Trish is the official photographer for the Ohio Mower Racers and Dewberry Mudboggers. Books are available at Amazon.com or Barnes & Noble Book Stores. Check it out!!

THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL filmed the 2002 lawnmower racing season!! This originally ran in February, 2003.

Welcome to the Dewberry Mudboggers' and Ohio Mower Racers' Driver Profile Page (including pictures, stats, etc.) for each lawnmower racing driver. This page is intended to give you more information than what you get on our "neighbor" page (www.geocities.com/lawnmower2race). We're always adding information to the individual pages including pictures, lawnmower facts, and updates on our lawnmower racing, so keep checking back! Usually we only do two types of lawnmower racing, in a mud pit and around a grass/dirt track. But in July, 1998, a few Ohio Mower Racers participated in an exhibition at Charlotte Motor Speedway on black top!!

Here is a SWEET picture of OMR and USLMRA Charter Member Chuck Miller of Marion, Ohio, leading the parade in the FX Class during a caution lap! This shot was taken in August, 2000 at the All Ohio Balloon Festival in Marysville, Ohio.

But here is where it all began with us Dewberry Mudboggers, in a mud pit. Below is a picture of our pit in May, 1998.

Here is the Ohioan Pit Row at the 1996 STA-BIL Nationals. Lawnmowers from left to right are: #28 "BOOGIE WOOGIE" (driven by Chuck Miller); #52 "GATES BELT SPECIAL" (driven by Greg Honchell); #714 (not sure his mower has a name -- driven by Steve Sergent); #02 "BULLET" (driven by Tim Matheny); #24 "RAINBOW WARRIOR" (driven by Jim Miller); #27 "IRON MAIDEN" (driven by Trish Potenza); #43 "BLUE BYE YOU" (driven by Rodney Day); and #77 "GRAVE DIGGER" (driven by Larry Potenza). All these lawnmower racers formed a racing group called the "OHIO MOWER RACERS" to organize more lawnmower racing action in Ohio. The above picture is from the 1995 USLMRA STA-BIL Nationals in Rockford, Illinois. The National event took place in the Rockford MetroCenter (and has for the 1996 and 1997 events also). #77 is Larry Potenza driving the "GRAVE DIGGER." #02 is Tim Matheny driving "BULLET." Both guys are our very own DEWBERRY MUDBOGGERS!!!!! Both are driving Dynamarks from the 70's.

This picture is from the 1995 STA-BIL Nationals also, except this time in the pit area. This shot is of the Dewberry Mudboggers' pit area. #24 is Jim Miller's lawnmower, the "RAINBOW WARRIOR." Jim also was the 1995 STA-BIL National BP Champion!!! Jim's mower is also a 1970's Dynamark. #27 is Trish Potenza's lawnmower, the "IRON MAIDEN." She favors the older Dynamark for grass racing -- it's called Dynastar. These were from the early 1970's. Mower #43, which is an MTD, belongs to Rodney Day and he named his the "BLUE MAX."
