Radio 1 "Kylie Fever Hits Wembley"
By Alan Braidwood 27th May 2002
It's just over a year since her Light Years tour where she performed Can't Get You Out Of My Head for the first time. Where once she was only a player in the whole pop malarky, she now defines it. Since th elast tour, shes broken the USA where her fever album has sold over 600,000 and in the UK Fever is her 2nd best selling album in her 15 year career now amssing 1.7 million.
Wembley is at best a forbidding venue. Artists bigger and smaller than Kylie have been lost to its canerveous size, It takes a big prescence to fill the stage and she does it with style. The show opened with Kylie singing "The hills are alive with the sound of music" - I was'nt sure if it was a reference to her cameo in Moulin Rouge or the old movie starring Julie Andrews. Anyhoo, Kylie appears in a metal like in the films Aliens and it sets the tone of the show - futuristic, spacey and robotic.  First up came Come Into My World swiftly followed by a guitar crunching shocked and the new single Love At First Sight. A couple of others follow and she disappears and remerges in a black dress singing The Crying Game which morphs into Put Yourself In My Place - Finer Feelings - Dangerous Game to an outro of The Crying Game.. and given the recent split from James Gooding its pretty sad. In over two hours Kylie performs hits from her career from an ace tracney version of I should Be So Lucky to the latest single. Along the way she sings a bit of I feel Love a song kylie was born to cover and a bit of debarge's Rhythm Of The Night.
Kylie has released 8 albums in total and only her second 1989's Enjoy Yourself failed to get a look in. It was only afterwards that you realise that she has so many hits  (34) that not all of them were played. This time around there was no What Do I have To Do? Step Back In Time or Breathe but Better The Devil You Know hit the spot! Aside from Kylie herself and her astonishing dancers the show looked amazing. The set itself was simple enough with metal stairs at the back looking like the big X and behind the corrguated plastic it was the visuals shown on five big screens that were amazing. From the clips of her to accompany GBI, to close ups of her lips constantly changing colour, to giant chandeliers for On A Night Like This they helped fill that huge space and were beautiful. Mixed with the sparkling lights were suspended all over the stage area the dancers costumes the overall effect was stunning.
Kylie's Fever tour makes Madonna's Drowned World tour of last year look vain, out of touch and old. That a star like Kylie is humble enough to perform a sexy version of the locomotion shows her sense of humour which her fans love her for. If Andy Warhol was still alive Kylie would be his favourite popstar. Long Live the my queen of pop.

Come! Come! Come Into My World
Kylie has launched her biggest and most expensive tour ever! The 4 millions UK leg kicks off with a Robocop style body armour as she comes onto the stage to sing opening number.."Come Into My World". The K brand phenomenon has surely lifted every part of her act to a new level even since, Light Years in 2001. With a line of sponsors and outfits designed personally for Miss Minogue by D&G, the array of costume and entertainment is not just in the show and Miss K. There are few surprises, if I am amazed by the lack of Fever album tracks present, I am happy to know my prediction that Impossible Princess tracks make the cut, although replacing a track so K could sing the whole of Dreams would suit me perfectly. Still it's an array of hits old and new and Kylie at her best visually. there has never been a better body to showcase such design and creativity. By the time K reaches London on 24th May, I am sure the UK will all have felt the Fever.
