The invitations....
After defeating Sensui, Eugene realizes that his life isn't over... it was just beginning. After some questions, Eugene visits a former female Spirit World detective. His visit was interrupted shortly after three men from the Netherworld visits them to discuss Eugene's fate. It is in this part that Eugene learns he is the descendant of an S-level warrior from the other world named Raizen and that he is the heir to his throne. The three explain that the Netherworld is controlled by three warlords: Raizen, Mukoro, and Yomi. Each warlord controls a country to balance the power in the Netherworld. If one were to topple over the other, the Netherworld would reck into total chaos. They inform Eugene that his 'father' is dying and Eugene was to be the heir to the throne to continue peace in the Netherworld. Eugene accepts this invitation and goes there to train, first saying goodbye to Jenny and that he would return after three years. |

Soon afterwards, Vincent receives an invitation from another S-level warrior named Mukuro. But before he is to be her "right-hand", he has to prove himself worthy. He fights off other "would-be" generals until he is faced with Shigure, a former friend of his. It is in this part where Vincent tells of his life. When he was a child, he was born in an ice land, where only women were allowed to live. Hiei was cast off in a river and was raised as a thief. His only remembrance of his "family" was a white pearl. He ponders on how to go back to his family and goes off into a long journey. Soon, he lost the pearl in a battle and found the need to have a third eye. He went to visit Shigure, a "doctor" of some sort. He was given the third eye after an operation. End of flashback. Vincent and Shigure face off in a weapons fight, and is soon ended. Vincent dies because Shigure manages to cut his stomach and Shigure in turn dies because Vincent manages to cut his head. Mukuro sees this as a tie and grants them both their lives. Vincent is made her right-hand while Shigure her general.

| Dennis then receives an invitation from an old friend, another S-level warrior, Yomi. He goes off to the Netherworld and is tested by three warriors. Dennis easily defeats these warriors. Dennis at first refused to join Yomi, but Yomi threatened Dennis that if he would refuse, his mother and father would suffer a horrible death. Dennis hesitates but gives in to Yomi. Yomi congratulates him and invites him to his fortress. Dennis is soon made his general, after Dennis kills Yomi's former general. It is here that Dennis's past is revealed. Dennis was a thief in the Netherworld, and Yomi was one of his students. Yomi at that time was a weak creature who only knew how to use the sword. Being merciless and cruel, Dennis sends Yomi and other students to a place of treasure guarded by a monster. Yomi and the others are attacked, and only he managed to survive. However, the monster slashes Yomi's eyes and Yomi luckily throws his sword injuring the monster. From that time on, Yomi became blind and trained himself, hoping that Dennis would rescue him. Dennis did not, and Yomi grew up to become a very powerful warlord. After a few thousand years, Yomi captures the very same monster who had taken his sight away, and he in front of Dennis, asks him who had ordered for the death of Yomi. The monster, now frail and weak, calls the name Dennis, Dennis, and Yomi smiles. He says that had he been in Dennis's place, he would have done the same. After that, Dennis recruits some former allies, Jinda, Suzuki, Ringgo, Wakamaru, Chu, and Toryo. He asks Jeremiah's help to train them, and soon, they join Dennis in Yomi's fortress. The human warriors had a strength level of only the hundreds at that time, but after the training, their strength increased to over a thousand.

| After all 3 leave the Human world, they leave behind Alfred, who was studying very hard to get back into high school. |
| Next, Alfred faces Seaman (Mitara). In Alfred's weakened condition, Mitara easily defeats him and traps him in his "territory", which is a body of water. When Alfred fails to rescue his friends, he becomes angry and summons out his new spiritual weapon : The Dimension sword. In one slash, Alfred destroys Seaman's territory : Seaman is defeated. Sensui sees the flash of Alfred's new power from a distance and says to his teammates that he has found the person to destroy the Spiritual Gate. Makihara approaches an aquarium where Toguro Ani is! Toguro Ani is only left with a head and an arm and says that it will take time for him to regenerate to full form. Sensui says there isn't enough time and Makihara eats Toguro Ani.

Meanwhile, after Eugene's extensive training with Raizen's warriors, he meets Raizen. Raizen explains his past. Hundreds of years ago, the Netherworld was in total chaos. Powerful youkais ran loose and plummeted and pillaged all of the Netherworld. Raizen was one of those creatures, who had stumbled into the Human world, where he ate many, many men. For fear of death, the human villagers hunted Raizen down. In a daring escape, Raizen was injured and stumbled upon the house of a certain woman. He had threatened to eat her alive, but she showed no sign of fear, instead offering to heal his wounds. The woman was a village nurse who had the ability to heal illnesses. He spent the night with her, and from then on, had not eaten another human being. It was then revealed that Eugene was the 'accident' that occured when Raizen and the woman spent the night together. The youkai blood remained recessive for hundreds of years until it became dominant on Eugene. Raizen's death was mainly because he had not eaten Human flesh (or anything for the matter) for thousands of years. Raizen challenges Eugene and they fight each other. After successive blows, Raizen asks if he had eaten human flesh or even had the desire to do so. Eugene replies with a no and Raizen is pleased.

Eugene returns to Raizen's fortress informing his disciples that Raizen has passed away. They ask Eugene what to do, and Eugene decides to visit the other warlords. Mukuro and Yomi hear of Raizen's death, and instantly have the urge to finish off Eugene and each other so that they could rule the Netherworld alone. Eugene decides to go visit Yomi. He proposes a tournament to Yomi saying that the competition will end the power struggle in the Netherworld and will decide how it will be run. Yomi was about to refuse until Dennis and his friends step out telling Yomi to accept the challenge. Yomi is then forced to accept and the tournament is materialized.

The Netherworld tournament
The competition starts with over a thousand participants. Eugene tells Koto, the cat referee, that each participant should pick a number. The numbers would decide as to what block the participant will be fighting in. This way, the number of participants would dramatically decrease because only one winner is allowed per block. There were about 100 blocks, and Eugene, Vincent, Dennis, Mukuro, Yomi, and Raizen's friends easily defeat their opponents in their respective blocks.

The interesting part of the fight was in the final rounds, where the fights were: Vincent vs. Mukuro; Dennis vs. Shigure; and Eugene vs. Yomi.

Vincent faces Mukuro with all his ability. But being a class-A entity, he had absolutely no chance of defeating Mukuro. During the fight, Mukuro tells of her past. When she was young, she was made a prisoner put through several tormented incidents. She was tortured and her hands were chained with shackles. She escaped from the torturous place but her shackles could not be removed no matter what she did. Vincent realizes that he could use his Black Dragon Power to destroy Mukuro and free her from her bondage. He uses the technique and the shackles break. Vincent is defeated but is satisfied for setting Mukuro free from her past. The round is won by Mukuro.

The next fight is Dennis and Shigure. Shigure has become stronger since his last encounter with Vincent and receives special training from Mukuro. Dennis has a hard time fighting Shigure, especially in his human form. After being injured, Dennis turns into a youko and gives Shigure difficulty. After some attacks though, Dennis figures it is time to let go of his past and face challenges as a human being. He reverts back to a human being and manages to defeat Shigure after a long and difficult time. He destroy' Shigure's weapon and Shigure is defeated. Though heavily injured, he was glad to bid his past farewell. He was allowed to advance to the next level, but declines because he was too injured to continue to fight.

The next fight now was between Eugene and Yomi. Vincent and Dennis watch in the side. They fought for a very long time (65 hours to be exact). Eugene attacks Yomi with his Rei Gun, but Yomi uses a Spiritual Shield to protect himself. Eugene, even though an S-level entity, could not match with Yomi's fighting experience. But despite this, Eugene would not give up. He continues to attack Yomi who often evades or blocks his attacks. Yomi goes from the defensive side to the offensive side. Eugene could not block Yomi's punches and kicks. But after a quick move, Eugene manages to hit Yomi. Yomi is excited about Eugene's sudden burst of fighting spirit and they both attack to their hearts content. After Eugene gave his all, Yomi attacks him and manages to defeat him. After he lost, Eugene was nowhere to be seen.

Eventually, Yomi lost to one of Raizen's friends because he had used up most of his energy during his fight with Eugene. The fighter who defeated Yomi was Enki. Fortunately, he was a wise and peace-loving youkai, and so he ruled the Netherworld with peace.

The Aftermth
After the competition, each of the Ghost Fighters went their separate ways. Vincent went with Mukuro, knowing that he would encounter new challenges and fights with others. He was to be the leader of the group who would bring humans who accidentally entered the Netherworld back home. Dennis went back to the Human world where he started anew, leaving his past behind and facing the future. He worked at his step-father's company after graduating from high school. Alfred entered Dennis's former school where he studied hard. Mikaela decided to stay and help Jeremiah in her temple. Jenny went to an all-girl's school to further her studies.

After three years from the competition date, Jeremiah called everyone to her temple. They went to the beach and on the seashore were having a wonderful get-together. Jenny seems to be lonely, for it has already been 3 years and Eugene was nowhere to be seen. Perhaps he had forgotten his promise? But slowly, a voice sounded calling to them. It was Eugene! Jenny runs over and jumps at him, pinning him to the ground. To Eugene's big surprise, Jenny hugs him and gives him a big kiss. Everyone looks and laughs.
