The black martial arts tournament
When the appointed day came, they all boarded in a cruise/boat heading for a small island. Jeremiah was with them but wore a mask. No one really cared though. They decided to begin the battle on the boat, so it would be much easier to tell who'd qualify to join the tournament. Eugene's group was the only one left, so they were qualified. When they arrived on the island, they realized that there were a lot of rich people who made bets in the tournament. |

| In the first round, Eugene's group, composed of Eugene, Vincent, Dennis, Alfred, and Jeremiah (unknown to them yet, except to Dennis, I guess) were matched with Zeru's group. Alfred fights Ringgo (Rinku), a young kid whose weapon is a yoyo. Being overconfident, Alfred lost badly. Dennis fights Roto who had placed a bomb on his mother's house to limit his actions. If Dennis would fight him, he would let the bomb explode and kill his mother. Dennis agreed not to counterfight, so he used his wits. Dennis evaded most of his attacks, and when Roto was about to go for the final kill, Dennis throws a seed, and the seed gows into a demonic plant and eats Roto. Vincent challenges a Zero (Zeru) who manipulated fire like himself. Vincent, not to be outdone, uses the Black Dragon Spirit technique (Ja-ou-Ensatsu-Kokuryha) to finish off his opponent. Zero is the first person to witness Vincent's power. Nothing is left of him except a burnt shadow on the wall. Unfortunately, Vincent almost lost his right hand because of the magnitude of the power. Eugene then is faced with Chu, the master of the drunken energy spirit. Eugene and Chu are evenly matched, but Eugene manages to defeat Chu.

| In the next level, Eugene's group were matched with a team led by a mad scientist named Dr. Ichigaki. This mad scientist mind-controlled his team members. Dennis and Vincent were held at bay by two of the scientist's warriors. Eugene and Alfred were losing until Jeremiah destroys the mind control of the scientist's members. Vincent and Dennis arrive and quickly finish off the enemy. |

| In the third level, Eugene's group is faced off with the Black Magic Team (Mashou Tsukai Team) (Ganma, Toryo, Bakken, Jinda, Rishyo, and Roku). The Mashou Tsukai warriors each possessed different elemental powers. However, Eugene's group was placed at a disadvantage as they were not given any chance to rest before their next combat. Roku (a demon pretending to be nurse) trapped Vincent and Jeremiah in a force field to prevent them from fighting as they were too strong for her team members. Dennis was injured from the previous battle, Alfred did not have the strength to fight, and Eugene was also badly injured. |

| Dennis first fights Ganma, the Demon Painter, who uses evil paints to do different things. Ganma uses his power to restrict Dennis's movements by chaining him to two big stone-weights. Dennis manages to gather his strength to try to move and evade his opponent's attacks. Dennis uses a tactic to fool the demon that he will be defeated because of the situation. Feeling overconfident, Ganma charges up close where Dennis pulls a sneak attack. He summons a rose whip from the back of his hair to finish off Ganma in one slice. Surprised, Ganma curses Dennis and dies.

Dennis is then too wounded to fight, but one of the judges say that Dennis must fight or forfeit the game. Dennis goes on and this time is pitted against Toryo (Touya), the ice demon. Toryo uses ice particles to attack his ooponent. Toryo surrounds the stadium with ice to prevent any interference and to limit Dennis's actions.

Toryo informs Dennis that Ganma's paints do more than what is intended. He also tells Dennis that because Dennis was splattered with Ganma's blood, Toryo can use Ganma's spirit to weaken Dennis. Dennis is weakened by Ganma's spirit but manages to break free, although he is still chained to the spiritual chains.

Toryo uses his Ice shards attack to try to defeat Dennis, but Dennis often leaps out of the way. In a desperate move, Toryo uses his full powers to try to finish off Dennis, but Dennis just moves out of Toryo's path. Toryo keeps on using his ice shards attack until Dennis is too tired and too weak to evade his actions. Eventually, Dennis had no strength left to jump out of the way and was forced to endure the pain the ice shards gave.

Toryo is stabbed and falls to the ground. He asks Dennis to finish him off, for his intention to see the light could no longer be achieved. Dennis tells Toryo that he will not finish Toryo, for he will be given another chance to try and see the light. Toryo recovers and thanks Dennis for showing him the light, for showing him that death was not the way.

After that final attack, Dennis falls to the ground for he was too weak to fight. Bakken (Bak'ken/Bakuken), the steam demon, picks Dennis up and punches him around. Eugene calls him a loser but the opponent seems unaffected. Dennis loses the round and Eugene faces his challenger. Eugene intimidates his opponent and in one punch finishes him off. Eugene, in deep anger, wished to kill him but refrained from doing so.

Eugene is then challenged by Jinda (Jin), the Wind demon. Eugene finds a hard time in defeating Jinda as Jinda always fought airborn. Eugene could not find any way to fight Jinda in the air, so he attempts to use the Rei Gun technique. Eugene uses the Rei Gun which surprises Jinda. Unfortunately, Jinda pulls a clever wind tornado attack that changes the path of the Rei Gun blast. Eugene then desperately tries to counter all of Jinda's dive attacks, of which he was most of the time unsuccessful. In the final attempt, Eugene uses a modified version of the Rei Gun, the Spiritual Bullet, to defeat Jinda. Jinda uses another dive attack and is surprised by Eugene's sneak attack. After a long tough fight, the judges considered the fight a draw because both fighters were down.

Rishyo (Rishou), the rock demon, steps up and challenges Eugene, but Eugene is disqualified by the judges. Eugene's team was about to be declared the loser for no other fighter could challenge Rishyo. Alfred, despite his injured condition, accepts the challenge and starts to fight Rishyo. Alfred is easily beaten up, and he has a hard time summoning his Spirit Sword. When Alfred was about to be knocked out, Alfred sees Mikaela and instantaneously punches away Rishyo. Alfred feels a sudden boost in strength because of Mikaela, and decides to impress her by defeating Rishyo. Rishyo's rock armor was no match for Alfred's Spirit Sword, which slashed through his soul. Alfred wins the round and Eugene's team is declared the winner. At that moment, Vincent breaks Roku's force field with his Black Dragon energy and Roku retreats.

The Usaotogi team
After the Black Magic team's defeat, the masked Jeremiah calls Eugene to the river. There she reveals who she truly is, and Eugene is surprised to see his master to be his teammate. Jeremiah says that the time has come for the final part of Eugene's training. She gives her spirit-gem of power to Eugene. This gem is Jeremiah's source of power, skill, and strenght. Eugene had a hard time controlling this power. The gem can only be contained by someone who was physically and spiritually fit. Had he not been that, Eugene would be destroyed by its strenght. But with the help of Pu, a bird which Jericho gave him, Eugene managed to absorb the gem. He slept afterwards because of the tiring experience. In fact, he slept throughout the combat between his team and the Usaotogi team.

Eugene's team is then faced with the Unga-Tongi Team (Uraotogi team). Vincent first fights a lowly shape-shifting demon, Makintaro. When the referee raises her hand to signify the start of the match, Vincent quickly slashes off his opponent's hand. When the referee's hand is down and the bell starts the match, Vincent's opponent's hand falls off. The shape-shifter becomes enraged and transforms his arm into an axe. In a quick move, the shape-shifter slashes Vincent, but in reality, Vincent removed his cloak and leaps to his opponent's back. The shape-shifter was fooled, and in one second, Vincent pushes his sword down his opponent's spine and the match is over.

Vincent then faces Kuramo Motaro who had the ability to increase his armor three folds everytime he eats something that looks like a marble. He asks Vincent for his sword and slashes his own hand. He then eats the "ball" and tells Vincent that from now on, he will be immune to all of Vincent's sword attacks. Vincent gets his sword back and tries to finish his opponent with a backslash. Unfortunately, his sword breaks and is caught in mid-air. His opponent thwarts Vincent into using the Black Dragon Spirit against him. Vincent is pushed to the limits and lets lose the power of the Black Dragon. He uses the Black Dragon Punch technique to defeat his opponent, but to his surprise, his opponent was not very much damaged. His opponent eats another "ball" and tells Vincent that now he is immune to the Black Dragon Spirit Power. He eats the final piece and says that now he is immune to ANY attack Vincent may use. Vincent tells his opponent that he has one more technique up his sleeve, but the demon is unconvinced, saying that no technique now can even harm him. He dives in for the finish and in the blink of an eye, the match is over. Vincent wins.

Alfred was very much surprised because he did not know what happened. Dennis explained that Vincent used his broken sword and used the Black Dragon Flaming Sword technique to slash through his opponent. Alfred says that the demon said no attack could harm him, and Dennis replies saying that the demon was immune only to the sword and the punch, but not to the Flaming sword.

| Dennis is then challenged by Uraurashima, a small demon who used a fishing line. Ura tricks Dennis into finishing off, and when Dennis attempts to do so, Ura pulls a quick slash move that injures Dennis althroughout. He then uses a magical artifact that turns all its enemies into toddlers by reversing their growth period. Dennis begins to grow younger, and younger, and younger until nothing. Ura could no longer feel Dennis's spiritual energy. Unfortunately for him, he did not know that Dennis was a demon-fox (kitsune) before he became human, and was thus turned into a youko. Dennis, now in his alter-ego form, uses his demonic plants as a show off to let his opponent plead for mercy. Upon doing so, Shishiwakamaru kills Ura by throwing his sword from behind. Dennis is soon afterwards transformed back into a human after the potion wore off. |
Jeremiah faces Shishi Wakamaru. Wakamaru boasts of his ability to control dark spirits into doing his bidding through his magical sword.

Although in a weakened state, Jeremiah accepts Wakamaru's challenge and calmly faces off the young warrior. She evades all of his attacks and surprises Wakamaru as she could easily beat him. Feeling taunted, Wakamaru uses his full power in using the dark spirits.

Wakamaru, thinking that he will still win, uses all sorts of attacks against Jeremiah. He uses his evil spirit sword technique to summon a group of ghostly spirits to try to defeat Jeremiah. In one attempt, Jeremiah destroys his evil spirit assaults with one flash of her Rei gun.

| In one final attempt, Wakamaru uses the full force of his capabilities, powering himself up with the force of his evil spirits. He uses the arcane magics of the sword and charges for Jeremiah. Jeremiah calmly prepares for the Rei Gun manuever and finishes off Wakamaru in one blast. But because of her weakened state, Jeremiah could not kill Wakamaru, instead leaving him drained out. Wakamaru blushes to see her in her young form, but then dozes off to his defeat. |
