|
A new challenge
After that long chapter about the tournament, another mystery and battle awaited to them all. Three humans with extraordinary powers and skills have kidnapped Eugene from his school. Charlene had to find Dennis , Alfred, and Vincent. The problem was where and how to find Vincent. Charlene used a magic whistle that produced strong vibrations for any monster to hear it. Vincent suddenly appeared after that annoying sound. |

| SThey went off into a house in the hills to face Kaito, a high school student in the same school Dennis studies in. Kaito was only second to Dennis when it comes to top notchers in their school. Kaito's power is extends within a certain territory. He can enforce 'forbidden' words that whenever spoken by someone will take his soul. Vincent finds it a bluff and tries to slash Kaito. Unfortunately, Vincent discovers that Kaito is surrounded by a magic barrier, and his soul is taken. Charlene utters a word and her soul is also taken. Alfred spoke to himself saying it was atsui (hot) and his soul was taken. Dennis was the only one left. He agreed to play with Kaito's game. He sat with Kaito silently and silence ruled the show. Kaito went to the comfort room, and when he came back, he saw the entire house filled with Dennis's plants. Yet, he did not speak a word. It came to a point where the only sound that could be produced as 'a', all other words would result in your soul being taken a way. Dennis did some quick thinking and hid above his plants. He dropped down and screaded 'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa' and froze in midair. Kaito was shocked and also froze. When he turned around to see Dennis frozen, he laughed and said he had won... The last word vanishes from the list and Kaito's soul is taken. Dennis wins.

| Everybody's soul was returned. The group then ascends one flight of stairs each with all stairs separated from each other. When they reached the top, Kaito tells Eugene that one of them is an imposter. They would release Eugene only if he could guess which one of them was an imposter. Eugene thinks for some time and questions each individually. He guesses that 'Alfred' is the imposter because he could not answer the question on Mikaela, and Eugene kicks him in the butt. Eugene was correct and the real Alfred shows with Jeremiah. Eugene is surprised to see Jeremiah because he thought she had died. Jeremiah tells him that Jericho gave her another chance to live in accordance to Eugene's prize wish during the tournament. She also explains that she plotted the entire plan to train Eugene of the importance of patience, clear thinking, and of what lies ahead. |

The 7 Gatherer's
Jeremiah tells them that the city was being attacked by humans with extraordinary capabilities having the levels of second rate demons (Class A demons). The group does some investigating when they come upon a hospital. There they find out about the 7 Gatherers: Dr. Kamiya (Kamiya), Seaman (Mitara), Sniper (Hagiri), GameMaster (Amanuma), Gourmet/Gurume (Makihara), GateKeeper (Itsuki), and Dark Angel (Sensui). They face off Dr. Kamiya, who has the ability to heal any part of himself and destroy anything he touches. Eugene defeats him after a few punches. Jeremiah explains that each of their enemies have the capabilities to extend their territories to a certain distance. Dennis says that after his investigation, he finds out that the enemy is trying to create a passageway from the Human World to the Netherworld. He says it will take approximately 1 week for the hole to be completed. The group then hurries to find the others.

| Next, Alfred faces Seaman (Mitara). In Alfred's weakened condition, Mitara easily defeats him and traps him in his "territory", which is a body of water. When Alfred fails to rescue his friends, he becomes angry and summons out his new spiritual weapon : The Dimension sword. In one slash, Alfred destroys Seaman's territory : Seaman is defeated. Sensui sees the flash of Alfred's new power from a distance and says to his teammates that he has found the person to destroy the Spiritual Gate. Makihara approaches an aquarium where Toguro Ani is! Toguro Ani is only left with a head and an arm and says that it will take time for him to regenerate to full form. Sensui says there isn't enough time and Makihara eats Toguro Ani.

| When Mitara awakens, he finds himself in Eugene's room, where the others are waiting for him to awaken. Mitara explains why he joined Sensui's group and is convinced that he is wrong. When Jericho arives, he explains about Sensui. Sensui was a Spirit World Detective long ago. Jericho explained that Sensui was one of the strongest then. Any monster whom he faced did not stand a chance. However, in one of Sensui's missions, he views the Spirit World Black Video Tape containing all of Human's sins. He questions himself whether humans are worth protecting from monsters, when it is in fact monsters who need protection from humans. Sensui escapes with the Black Video Tape and is never heard from again. Dennis and Eugene instantaneously turn around to see that Sensui was already spying on them. Sensui utters to Hagiri kill Mitara. Dennis orders them to protect Mitara. Eugene is surprised to learn that Dennis could 'hear' Sensui from afar. Jeremiah tells Eugene that Dennis does not 'hear' them, but rather he is able to read their lips. Alfred and Eugene rush out to face Sensui, and the others follow. Before engaging in combat, Sensui informs them that it will take only 2 more days before the passageway is completed. The group is surprised, stating that there should still be 5 days. Sensui tells them that the hole is acting on its own, that is why it will take less time than expected. Eugene steps forward to confront Sensui. After some hits and blocks, Sensui calls on his powerful attack : Rei-shei-kok-you-ha. Eugene was about to evade it until the ball of energy suddenly moves away to destroy Eugene's room, where Mitara is. Jeremiah says that it was a trick to leave Mitara alone. Sensui runs away and Eugene, Dennis, and Alfred chase him. Jericho and Jeremiah rush out back to help Charlene and Mitara. After a few more hits and blocks, Sensui manages to kidnap Alfred, because of GameMaster and Gurume who set out a trap. They escape in a jeep and Eugene chases them using a bicycle. |

Enter Hagiri Kaname : the Sniper
In the later scenes, Hagiri, who was following Eugene, closely, destroys Eugene's bike by hurling a small piece of stone at great speeds. He introduces himself to Eugene as Hagiri Kanami, code name: Sniper. He has the ability to hurl small objects at speeds faster than a bullet fired from a gun. In addition to this, he has also the ability to create "trace-spots" which allows him to track down the enemy. When he hurls any obect into the air, it immediately attacks the enemy. Eugene seems to be pathetic in confronting Hagiri. He only evades each of Hagiri's attacks. Sniper then uses a swarm of boulders, rocks, leaves, and knives to hit Eugene by his trace-spots. Sniper than uses a truck to desVincent ends Eugene's misery (hehehe) by finishing off Sniper himself. He confronts Eugene to "test" him if he was prepared. When the battle is over, Eugene asks for Vincent's help, but he refuses, 'til Eugene mentions of the "Black Tape". Vincent is pleased with the "wager" and joins back Eugene to meet off with the others.

The cave of Irima : The gamemaster attack
The team meets outside the Cave, where the hole is being created. Everyone, Dennis, Vincent, Eugene, Jeremiah, Charlene, Kaito, Kito, Mitara, and Yanagi, was there. Mitara leads Eugene, Alfred, Dennis, and Vincent into the labyrinth-cave. He leads them through a series of passageways and Dennis leaves behind light-seeds so that they could go back and forth easily. They come so deep inside the cave until they reach a giant gate. Mitara says this is strange. A voice is heard saying that there should be 7 'players' before they could continue on. They go back out the cave and bring along Jeremiah, Kaito, and Yanagi. Charlene was left behind.

The gate was created by Amanuma, the GameMaster. He has the power to create a territory more like a game, wherein rules are imposed. They must follow the rules or they could not pass through his territory. They all play a game. Mitara plays a game of tennis and wins. Jeremiah plays a game of helicopter war, where she wins too. Eugene plays a game of fight, where he wins easily. Kaito plays a game of quiz, but loses to Amanuma because the game has had patterns which he already memorized. Dennis realizes that this was all to stall the group from stopping the hole. He plays a game of Tetris and realizes that this game was based on a true game. When each challenger loses, he is given the chance to 'try again' (aka continue). But when the GameMaster loses, he dies. Dennis asks Amanuma if he knew this, and Amanuma is frightened. He loses his concentration for fear of death. His tiles stack up and Amanuma loses. He dies. Dennis becomes very silent and mad. He goes into an inner anger.

Jeremiah, Kito, and Kaito bring Amanuma's body outside. Vincent, Eugene, Mitara and Dennis finally reach the headquarters of the enemy. They see Alfred tied up on a boat in the center of a like, just in front of the passageway to the Netherworld. The hole is nearly completed and creatures from the Netherworld are preparing to enter the Human world. Sensui, Itsuki, and Makihara step to face the three fighters. Makihara challenges Eugene, but Dennis steps forward to challenge Makihara. Makihara taunts Dennis by asking him how he feels by killing Amanuma. Dennis becomes angrier, but is still silent. Eugene thinks to himself and he realizes that Makihara can read the thoughts of anyone. Dennis is not bothered by this. Instead he closes his eyes and tells his heart to stop beating and his brain to stop 'thinking out loud.'

Makihara is surprised by this move, and in one second, Makihara's head is ripped off by the Rose Whip. Eugene is shocked by this. He has never seen Dennis act so mercilessly. But Dennis approaches the fallen body and orders Toguro Ani to come out! Toguro Ani had indeed risen, but is now using the body of Makihara. He says that after his brother, Toguro Ototo, turned his back on him, he sent out a distress call which only the merciless and mighty creatures could hear. Sensui receives the call and is intrigued by Toguro's story about the new Spirit World Detective. Makihara ate Toguro in order for them to fuse into one, with Toguro's power of immortality and body manipulation combined with Makihara's ability to read thoughts and consume other's powers, the two would be invincible. Dennis orders them to shut up and fight. Toguro Ani reminds Dennis that he is immortal, and no attack of Dennis can destroy him. Dennis is not intimidated and taunts Toguro, calling him trash. Toguro Ani gets mad and attacks Dennis. Dennis creates a smoke barrier and the two of them fight within, concealed from the view of the others. Toguro reminds Dennis that he can still hear Dennis's thoughts and is not bothered at all by the smoke. He sees Dennis behind him and goes for the kill. Eugene moves to try to save Dennis, but Vincent stops him, signaling to him that the fight is over. Dennis walks out and Toguro screams. Toguro has been attacked by the Tree of Thought Manipulation (Janen-nu). Dennis says that since Toguro can never die, he will be forever imprissoned under the Tree's wicked manipulation. Vincent, Eugene, Sensui, and Itsuki are impressed. Eugene steps to face Sensui. The match is just about to begin.

Itsuki calls his ability to transport Dennis, Vincent, and Alfred into another dimension. Left alone, Eugene and Sensui start to fight. Sensui uses his multiple blast attack and hits Eugene. Eugene seems to be losing after some shots. However, he finds a technique and manages to subdue Sensui. Sensui uses another technique and pins Eugene to the ground. Eugene uses the Rei Gun, but Sensui manages to evade it. Sensui then reveals that he has 7 personalities, which is why he is able to use different techniques that confuse his enemy. He can call one one personality to another depending on the situation. These 7 personalities are 7 souls who have wished to join him in his mission to punish the humans. After, Jericho arrives. He says he will not hesitate to use the pacifier to stop Sensui. He removes the pacifier from his mouth and prepares to use it. Jericho uses the pacifier and sends out a beam against Sensui. Sensui counters it and the fight is ended by the blast. Jericho did not have much strength to face Sensui. Eugene grabs the pacifier thanking Jericho for buying him time to rest. Alfred is desperate to try to help Eugene and calls his new sword, the Dimension Sword to try to destroy the Dimensional Gate of Itsuki. Itsuki tries to stop Alfred, but it was too late. He got in the way and his face was cut. Itsuki's Dimensional Barrier is destroyed and the three get out. However, Sensui uses a death move and Eugene looks at Alfred and smiles. In an instant, Sensui kills Eugene. The three are in shock. Their faces turn from a deep shock to an evil anger. Dennis transforms into a youko, Vincent uses his Black Dragon Spirit Power on Sensui, and Alfred uses his new sword. Sensui escapes into the hole that is now completed. After some time, the three stand back to see Sensui through the gate. Sensui tells them that his Spiritual Light power enables him to pass through the gate without the need to destroy it. The gate will only stop Class A and above creatures from the Netherworld, so only the weak ones could pass through. Unfortunately, Sensui is a human, and thus is immune to the powers of the gate. Dennis approaches the gate to 'test' it, and is blocked. Vincent is surprised to see Sensui unaffected by his attack. Alfred ignores all of this and proceeds to destroying the gate. His sword cuts the Spiritual Gate and the three chase after Sensui.

Meanwhile, back in the cave, a team from the Spirit World arrives. They inform Jericho to return to the Spirit World and let them deal with the situation. The captain orders some of his members to try to cover the hole, which will take around 1 week. He orders the others to destroy Eugene's body, for the reason that Eugene is no longer a human because he carries the blood of a youko. Jericho orders them to stop, but before he could do so, Pu (now looking like a big phoenix after Eugene's death) comes in to protect Eugene from their blasts. After the smoke settles, Eugene steps out.

Eugene tells the others that he is now revived, feeling much stronger than before. He asks where Sensui had gone and they tell him that he had ventured to the Netherworld. Eugene asks Pu to head for the Netherworld and Jericho offers to come along. The captain asks Jericho to go back to the Spirit World, but Jericho refused, saying he will be responsible for all his actions and will answer to his father later.

In the Netherworld, Dennis, Alfred, and Vincent fight Sensui. Sensui uses a 'defensive power' to protect from all attacks. Alfred charges to try to hit Sensui, but Sensui leaps out of the way and hits Alfred. Vincent uses some fast moves and does some quick punching, but Sensui is unaffected and instead kicks Vincent out of the way. Dennis goes in to use a plant-claw but Sensui uses a Whirldwind attack on Dennis. The three have a hard time fighting Sensui, until Sensui feels a foreign force. He sees Eugene and is surprised. The three are happy to see Eugene alive, and Eugene and Sensui continue their interrupted fight.

The final confrontation
After some cool fighting scenes, Eugene quickly lets out a Rei Gun, but Sensui evades it, although his armor was destroyed, One single, unconcentrated blast from Eugene destroyed an entire mountain, and this surprised Sensui. He switches from a defensive technique to an offensive one, and they continue their fight. Despite Eugene's new strength, he still has a hard time finishing Sensui off. When the fight escalated to new heights, Eugene hears a voice in his head saying that he will be helped. After a clashing blow, Eugene steps out of the smoke now with long hair, black lines across his body, and a deeper voice. Sensui is surprised to see him like this. Eugene continues the fight and Sensui engages him too. However, Eugene is much faster, skilled, and stronger this time. He easily defeats Sensui after one punch to the other. Eugene throws Sensui into the air and uses a super-strong Rei Gun on Sensui. Eugene regains 'consciousness' and is surprised to what he had done. He chases after Sensui's body, and when he sees him, orders Sensui to get up because someone else defeated Sensui, not him. Sensui thanks Eugene for the fight. He had always wanted to face someone much stronger than him, and Eugene was that person. Sensui said he had turned to the dark side because of all the evil actions of man. Many humans captured very weak monsters into slavery and killed them for mere pleasure. He promised he would take revenge on them, and that is why he turned to the Dark side. And with those last words, Itsuki steps out from a dimensional hole and takes Sensui with him. The two vanish and the others are happy. They all return to the Human world where they planned to live one happy life. |
