Recommendation on Technologies Used
Implementation of the community does face the constraint of cost and time. In order for the progress of implementing the community to flow efficiently, there would be a certain level of needs to attain software that is ready purchased in the market. Custom made softwares would be advisable to achieve in the process.
Database System
A database would be the most important tool in organising the details of the members, companies, and mentor as it could act as a backbone in managing the members profile and personalization of the website. The recommended software would be Microsoft Access as the program also provide protection in encrypting and decrypting the database. Therefore, the data could be protected from hackers and unauthorised personnel from gaining access.
Discussion Forums
Software that would be used for discussion forum would be an existing tool that could be purchased in the market. The software recommended is Snitz Forums 2000 Version 3.4.03. It is because this software could support many versions of Microsoft System and also Unix System. Most importantly, it has a bad word filter system that allow offensive words to be filtered before going to the discussion forums.
Chat Rooms
The software that is selected to be used for chat rooms would be Ad-Free Chat Room. As this software has the function to allow members to have the choice of selecting the preferable nickname in the chat room. It also allows the administrator would have the authority to boot members that do not obey the chat rooms.
Mailing List System
Listserv are selected to be the mailing list system in the community as this software allows all the members who is added in the central address system to be send mail to. Moreover, it also have an anti-virus system to scans all messages before delivery.
Search Engine
The search engine software that is recommended is from Free Find as it has the features of daily re-indexing, phrase matching, simple or boolean searching and etc. Furthermore, it has language support, it will be good upgrade tool for the website if the administrator wants a multiple version language website in the coming future.
