Implementation Time-Line As the implementation of the website is done by the designer group of our course mates, therefore, the estimated time-line is sketch according to the time frame of our Assignment 3, from 23 September - handing the implementation topic to the designer group - to 24 October – designer group’s submission dates of the final implementation of the virtual community to the client group. The time-line of the implementation is drawn below:-
Important Dates Below is a list of important dates that the client and designer group has to take note of while implementing the virtual community:-
23 September 2003 Client group project proposal submission to the designer group
14 October 2003 Designer group’s submission of the preliminary implementation to the client group for feedback
20 October 2003 Client group provide feedback on designer group’s implementation
24 October 2003 Designer group’s submission of the final implementation to the client group
28 October 2003 Submission of project’s report and URL
04 November 2003 Presentation and demonstration of the implementation
Data Collection Before data collection work starts, it is important to take note that all data collection needs to be done by a huge and diversify sample. Having a large sample size without having different backgrounds of people answering it, the data would be regarded as useless as people from the same background tends to have the same answers for most of the questions. A few types of data collection and analysing method is recommended below:-
Questionnaires This method is done by giving a list of questionnaires regarding the needs of interested users in the community for people to filled up. Questionnaires might be a bit difficult to analyse as open-ended questions would receives many kinds of answers that might not even be considered by the people who set the question. The disadvantage of questionnaires is that many people might be reluctant to answers all the questions, leaving the answer column blank. The work of analysing questionnaires might be a be hectic as there would be a broad range of answered to consider in.
Survey This might be the most simple and inexpensive method of collecting data by giving a few model answers for people to choose in answering your survey. Survey would be a better choice in conducting data collection as having multiple answers for people to choose would encourage the surveyors to answers the survey fully. And, it would help to narrow down the data analysing task. It is recommended that each surveyed questions would have a open-ended answers for keen surveyors to filled in, as they might have different view compared to the answers set.
Existing Documents Sampling Research on existing documents sampling might be the quickest and most convenient way to collect data. However, most existing documents does not come free. If budget is allowable, this would be a very good and time saving method of collecting data. While collecting existing documents sampling, dates of the sampling done has to be taken notice as same sampling might be out dated.
Data Analysing It is advisable that data analysing could be done by conducting a graph, such as pie chart and bar chart. This would allow analysing task to be done efficiently. If some of the answers collected from the data collection is too extreme, these answers could be ignore depending on the constructiveness as these answers are usually irrelevant opinion. Most cases, data analysis method only collect 90% to 95% of the collected data to analyse as the balance 5% to 10% is extreme case data.
