Sarap Mag Banda, Sarap Mag Bay's Inn was obviously megged by San Miguel Beer and Bay's Inn
in time for the Fiesta.
This gig was much awaited by the local rockers in Baler because the organizers initially
announced that they were choosing between Cheese and Wolfgang to highlight this event, as
if they really can't decide on which band to dump.
Then one day before the gig they said that the band would be Razorback instead. They
brought Alamid, now it's Razorback. Talk about reviving the careers of the 90's rock era
combos.
In the end they bought Bernardo Carpio. The next logical reply would
be.."bernardo what....?". Anyway, you will not see a picture of Bernardo Carpio
here because they climbed the stage at about 2 am because these 4 local bands did their
own mini concerts before them.
And I missed The Dead Trees, a band i personally like because they played too early. Army
ni Bush, played a chopsuey of old and new hits including, weel Chopsuey and a reggaed
Hotel California.
They have two vocalist, one nervous Rico Mar and a Joaquin Phoenix lookalike.
The Underground chicken Sound is getting more cockier and the vocalist needs a little
deflating. And Badfish..did their thing.
I left before Badfish finished their gig. I discovered Bernardo Caprio the next morning. I
managed to score their 2000 album (yes they have an album).
It seems like there's a Rock en Roll thing on the title. It was released under Viva's Neo
Records and was produced by Robert Javier of the Youth fame.
Obviously it didn't sell. But their music is good. If you're into the original rock sound
of Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Juan Dela Cruz, you will definitely like them.
Or if you're Boyboy or Omania or Waldo Palispis. They sound a little bit like...Razorback.
So, SMB may have half-fulfilled their promise. Maybe not.
Technically, the kids are progressing. But musically.. i don't know. Most of them are
still easily influenced and easily jumps into what's currently hip.
Or maybe it's always been this way.::
