| A Kiss to Die For: Chapter Five By: Cam ----Later that Evening---- After blow drying my hair, I shook my head, making my hair fall in place. I love hot showers. I did a lot of running around today, going to the grocery store and cleaning a bit, among other things. Jon was coming by 7:00ish, then we were going to a comedy club, I wasnt sure who was performing though. I looked in the mirror and touched my face. I could swear that bruise had gotten more yellow. I took some foundation and applied it over my face. It still showed...but didnt look as bad. You can defiantly tell it was there no matter what. I finished getting ready and went into the living room. "Hey," Mallie said. "Hey yourself," I replied. "You look nice," Mallie commented on my pick deep V-neck shirt and faded dark blue jeans. "Gracias." "De nada." "El gato es en el sombrero..." "Um.." "Thats all I know in Spanish," I laughed. "I figured as much," Mallie laughed as well. I sat beside her on the couch occasionally looking out the window. "Nervous?" she asked. "You know me..." "That I do, dont worry too much." "Easier said than done." I heard the rocks in the driveway crackle of the incoming car. Lights flashing across the window as the car turned. I sat up and took a deep breath. I stepped outside and closed the door behind me. Jon met me halfway on the sidewalk. He embraced me with a light hug. "Hey there," I said. "Evening, ready?" Jon asked. "As Ill ever be." We made our way back to the car, he ran to the other side and opened the door for me. I blushed, but since it was night he wouldnt be able to tell. "Mlady," he stated smoothly. "Thank ye kind sir," I laughed. I hopped in, then he closed the door behind me, walking around entering the drivers side. I tugged at the seatbelt and fastened it over me. Jon got in and put on his as well. I glanced at the ribbons of moonlight that seeped though the windshield, then up at the large, breathless moon. "Its really pretty out tonight," I said. "That it is. Which you look very beautiful tonight," Jon responded. "Thanks...you dont look so bad yourself," I teased. "So...who are we seeing tonight?" "Well, you know Lewis Black right?" I nodded "Of course, I love the segments he does on your show." "Good then!" he smiled. "Hes doing an act at a club, so I said we would stop by and see it." "Thats awesome! I cant wait," I beamed. -----40 minutes later----- We finally arrived at the club, which, wasnt as far as I thought it would be. The place was packed. "Good god," as said with awe. Jon laughed. "Surprised I see?" I laughed. "A bit...though I really shouldnt be. Anyway, lets get going." I undid the seat belt then grabbed my purse. "Wait just one second ," he said. He turned off the car then leaped out and ran to my side and opened the door for me. "Awe, thanks! Youre so sweet!" I said this while I pinched his face. He lightly ticked my side. "Hey hey now...lets keep our hands to ourselves," I said in a stern voice. "Alright..." he sighed. "Um...for at least 3 seconds..." "3 seconds?!?" "Alright...2 1/2, but youre really asking for it." He squinted. "Uh-huh" "Fine...1" We made our way to the comedy clubs door and entered. The hostess smiled at us and said welcome. There was about 15 people standing around waiting to be seated. Luckily, we didnt have to wait at all. We followed her to our small table. Around us was, I swear, a billion other tables, filled with people. Chattering excitingly. A few stares went our way. I sat down in the cushioned chair and took in the surroundings. All the tables had a small, lone candle in the center, on top of the off white table clothes. The floors were a dark, rich polished wood floor. Walls had pictures of different things and random items like a tricycle and a fishing net. The waitress then came by and took our drink orders. "This is a really cool place," I said. "Yep, a lot better then in places Ive worked in back in the day." I laughed. "I can only imagine. I remember when there used to be a lot of comedy clubs. Not so much anymore sadly." "Very true." "Hey, whats that on your face? Looks like a bruise," Jon questioned with concern. I held my cheek where it was bruised. "Thats from dance rehearsal. I accidentally got kicked in the face." "Ugh...sorry about that. Hope it starts to feel better." "Thanks," I smiled and lowered my hand a bit. "Hope it doesnt look too bad..." "I can barely notice it." "Uh-huh." "Really!" "Okay, okay...I believe you." I rolled my eyes. Jon huffed. The waitress came back with our drinks. Then took our order for our meals. I took a small sip of my drink as he did with his. We chatted a little bit more on random things. We had a lot of similar experiences, such as with high school. "Over half of your school was stoners eh?" "Thats for sure...I never got into that...type of thing," I stated. "Me too, I just think its a bit pointless." "I dont know....at my old town, the highlight of the year is turkey races..... turkey races." I said dryly. "What the fuck?" He laughed. "Turkey races?" "Sadly yes. Ruby was the name of our turkey...then it raced every year some turkey from Minnesota." "How do you race turkeys?" "Chase them down with a stick." Jon covered his mouth while he laughed. "I know...I know..." I shook my head. The lights began to dim. An announcer's voice boomed over the speakers. "And now...give it up for Lewis Black!" Everyone cheered wildly. He came out, wearing some black pants and a dull, gray shirt. "Calm down," he said. Everyone laughed. "Really, its a pleasure to be here. I dont get out like I used to." "I have been lucky enough to be able to travel outside of the United States and its something you should do if you get a chance. I was in Italy...and Ill tell ya, Jesus Christ is big there." Everyone chuckled. "I mean, I should have suspected that, but more big than I even imagined. Hes everywhere, he got pictures...and photos...fucking photos! Hes in every nook and cranny of Italy. Hes like the coca-cola of Italy." The crowed cheered. The night lasted with Blacks jokes on Iraq, health clubs, and other such things. Afterwards everyone applauded excitedly. Everyone began to leave. "Lets go see Black," Jon told me. "Ooh, I get to meet him?" "Of course." I gleed. Jon held my hand and I followed him over into the back stage area. Lewis was drinking some water and sitting at a nearby couch. "Hey!" he said. "Hey there, great routine!" Jon said as shook his hand firmly. "Thanks, and whos this lovely lady?" "Chrystal." "Nice to meet you," I said blushing a bit. "Nice to meet you too." "I really enjoyed it, you were awesome." "Thanks." "If Jon pulls any funny stuff on you tonight...you let me know," Lewis said while he eyed Jon. I laughed. "Ill be sure and let you know." They chatted a little bit and were talking plans for next week on the Daily Show. Lewis was planning to do a commentary on youth on politics. It sounded pretty funny. It was about 11:30 P.M. The night was still young, but I had school and he had work tomorrow. I had a great time though. |
