A Kiss to Die For:  Chapter  Four
By:  Cam

----- Next Day ----

I sleepily opened the front door, closed and locked it and made my way to my room, falling into my bed.

"I dont think I can take another practice like that...its killing me." I said aloud to myself.   I stretched a bit, only to hear my bones crack.  During practice I received a swift kick in the face by a fellow dancer...it was an accident...but it was such a hard hit.  Made me cry a little.  Shock value mostly...like...someone had punched you in the stomach.  Not a great feeling.

I meshed my face into the pale white pillow.  If I get a bruise on the side of my face...I will hurt someone. I thought to myself while moving my jaw, which hurt the most.  Jon called me last night and we were going to meet tomorrow evening and me having a big, purple bruise on my face will be horrible.

Mallie was currently at Tough Crowds taping.  Im sure I will get to hear all about it when she gets back.  She was telling me that her and Colin were going to do something afterwards.  I forget what, perhaps a TC after show party.

I wondered if I should call her and see where shes at...but...Im sure shes fine.  I looked at the clock and said it was 9:45 P.M.  Still early for me to go to sleep, but I think after today, its needed.  I got up and changed into black shorts and a over sized yellow T-shirt that said Baylor University on it.  One of my friends who goes there got me one...its very comfortable.

I poked at my face.  Felt a little swollen.  I should probably put ice on it...but...eh, Im fine.  I went into the bathroom and brushed my teeth quickly.  I turned off the squeaky facet and began to walk back to my room...but I heard a car pull up.

"Must be Mallie," I said quietly to myself.

I went over to the living room window and peeked through the curtain.  It was a clear, moonlit night, so I could see pretty well.  Colin walked her up the door, where they exchanged a few words and he hugged her, they looked at each other and he leaned in for a kiss.  She did the same.

"Awe," I whispered.  Go Mallie!

He gave her another quick kiss and made his way back to the car.  I ran back to my bed, I didnt want her to know I was snooping on her.  She can tell me everything tomorrow.

-----Next morning----

I sat up from my bed and rubbed my eyes.  Then wandered my way to the bathroom.  I splashed some water on my face to wake me up a little more.  I hate waking up in the morning...or rather just the waking up part.  Always  have.  I went over to the kitchen and made myself a bowl of Trix cereal, then sat down at the table.

I munched and looked at the rabbit on the box.  "Why cant they give that poor rabbit some Trix," I said with my mouth full.

"Then they would have nothing to torment," a voice answered.

"Morning Ms. Mallie."

"Morning...hey...whats that on your face?"

I pouted.  "Must have made a bruise....how bad does it look?"

"Sorta...purple, yellowish..."

I groaned.  "Oh, that sucks."

"What happened?"

"At dance rehearsal yesterday, I got kicked in the face by accident.  Knocked some brain cells out I think."

"Im sorry...does it hurt?"

"A little, makes it hard to chew.  Ill manage.  So...tell me about last night," I said casually.  Mallie made herself a bowl with some Trix cereal and sat.

"Well, it was pretty awesome."

"I know," I laughed. Then I covered my mouth.

"Hey..." She said squinty look on her face.

"I happened to look out the window when yall were kissing," I said with a smile.

"Uh-huh, By accident Im sure hum?"

"Yes.." I shook my head no.

She laughed.

"Anyway, how was it?"

"The kiss?"

"Yeah.."

"Wonderful,  Extraordinary...it was...wonderiffic."

I laughed.  "Wow."

"How was the show?"

"Great as always, I was front and center to watch it," Mallie said happily.  "Afterwards, Colin showed me around the studio and told me how they run things there.  It was pretty cool."

"Cool, was there some party thing too?"

"Yes, since the show is going to take a break for a while and prepare for the new season and such."

"Interesting...did you two do anything after that?"

"Well, he was going to take me home, so we drove around a bit and talked."

"How sweet," I cooed.

"Yep, so, I had a pretty good night....Arent you meeting Jon today?"

"Yes...though...with this ugly bruise I dont want to anymore."

"Its not that bad, make up will make it a little better."

"I suppose..."

"Youre not going to be able to see him again till Wednesday with college classes."

"I know...I guess Ill still go."

"Thats a good girl," Mallie said as she got up, lifted her bowl to the sink and rinsed it.

I went and emptied mine, placing it in the sink and then went into the living room.  There I did my daily channel flipping.  Theres never anything on Sundays, I suppose theres always a slight hope that magically there will be something watchable.  I sighed.  I hope I dont make a fool of myself tonight.
