| A Kiss to Die For: Chapter Three By: Cam Mallie and I took a rather long time to figure out what were going to wear for our meeting with Colin and Jon. I finally decided just to be casual and simple. "A blouse and blue jeans," I said to Mallie. "Ugh, you and your blue jeans," Mallie responded. "Its just lunch...or rather brunch? Anyway, pick something comfortable." Mallie sighed and went to her room to glance through her clothes again. I put on my brown boots that went up a little past my ankle, then plopped on the couch. I pulled at my turquoise colored chandler earrings. I usually did when I was nervous. I started to count the ceiling tiles. Why...Im not sure. Who knows...perhaps Ill need to know the number of tiles in my house someday....er...something. Mallie finally stepped out of her room and walked over to me. She wore some kaki pants and a pale maroon graphic tee. She did a little spin. I laughed. "Alright, alright, Im glad we found something." Jumping up from the couch I grabbed my cell phone from the counter. Mallie had the keys ready to go. "Let get going!" I said with a smile. "Lets!" Mallie said cheerfully. ------------------ We arrived at our destination. The place Mallie described, was indeed, quaint. It had a nice indoor/outdoor setting. The place had big, tall windows with the walls being shaped by chipped stone. Vines casually climbing the walls. Like a secret garden. I stepped out of the car and bit my nail. I dont know if I can manage this....just...be...positive I told myself. Mallie made her way around the car and looked at me. "Dont be nervous." "Easy for you to say," I said still biting my nail. I always had a problem...with confidence issues. Mallie was more outgoing than I. When I meet new people...I always have a hard time making conversation. It was a curse really. After I know someone, its not too bad. We made our way to the doors...me...following behind her. Mallie glanced around the room. "There they are!" She said happily. I looked toward the direction she was looking at. There they were, talking to one another. When my eyes glanced on Jon, I held my breath. He looked quite handsome, wearing a soft navy blue T-shirt and dark denim blue jeans. Colin didnt look too bad either. From his show, he was always a trendy dresser you could say. He wore a red graphic T-shirt with faded denim blue jeans. We walked over there and Colin and Jon rose up to greet us. Colin hugged Mallie and shook my hand. "This is Chrystal, my friend I was telling you about." "Nice to meet you," Colin said. "You too." I looked at Jon and smiled. He outreached shaking my hand slightly and gave me a light hug. Now at this point...I about died of happiness. "Nice to meet you," I said "Nice to meet you too," Jon said smiling. We all sat down and settled. "Have yall ordered yet?" I asked. "Not yet," Jon replied. I smiled and looked down at my silverware. Mallie cleared her throat. "So Colin, you were saying the other day about getting some tickets for us to see your show." "T-that I did," he said with a slight stutter. Mallie had always told me countless times before how she loved Colin's humorous words and his loveable, bumbling ways. I grinned at this. "Whats that devilish grin for?" Jon asked. "Devilish? Anything but!" "Uh-huh." I glared at Jon playfully. "So when are those tickets for?" I said to Colin. "Tomorrow evening," he replied. "Ugh...I guess I cant go." "Why not?" Mallie questioned. "A major little dance practice event in costume....very boring....and very tiring...I am the equivalent of a mindless dancing puppet." They all laughed. "Mindless dancing puppet?" Jon asked. "Long story...goes back to high school," I said with a nod. "And for the sake of humanity...lets not get into that." Just then the waitress finally came by our table. We ordered, ate and chatted a little more. I could tell of the fondness between Mallie and Colin. I hoped the same was happening with Jon and I, which it seemed to be so. I was able to get out of my little shell and have a great chat with him. Before we left we did exchange numbers. We all said our goodbyes and left. "Well, what do you think?" Mallie asked as she pulled into traffic from the restaurant. "I think you and Colin have something," I smirked. She blushed a little. "Maybe. I think Jon really likes you, he was looking at you the whole time." "Oh really?" "Yes, really. Its quite obvious." "I hope so," I said with a heavy sigh, looking out the car window at the buildings passing by. |
