MVS houseChicago's Pilsen MVS Unit

VS HomeVision

The vision of the Pilsen unit is to provide workers for projects and organizations that further justice and peace in the world and that work toward making sure the basic needs and rights of society's most vulnerable and least powerful are respected. Our ideal is to place workers in positions that could not exist through "regular" resources and structures; e.g., in non-profit service agencies that cannot afford to pay a regular employee.

Support The Pilsen MVS Unit

The Pilsen MVS unit is the result of a local community of people. This web site should be a collaborative effort that changes over time. Please send in corrections, suggestions, new web pages, etc. Could you write up a couple of paragraphs (or timeline items) about the history of the unit itself and/or the local Mennonite community to add to the history section? Do you have a story about when you were a volunteer that you could submit? There are many other ways to get involved in supporting the Pilsen MVS unit.

Interested in getting a volunteer for your favorite agency? Fill out the Service Opportunity Data Sheet, and you can apply to add a position to the MVS job list. The Memo to Cooperating Agencies & Employers of MVS Volunteers explains more about how it works. You can print these documents to help explain the program for people in the agency.
